Are you a new student at the CITY College, University of York Europe Campus? Then you will find the information below useful to get you started!

 

Welcome to the Information & Learning Commons (ILC)

For students who are joining us on campus for the first time – A warm welcome!

We aspire to play an essential role in your academic and learning experience and to support you throughout your studies.

As the heart of campus, the Library offers much more than books and a place to study. Our main goal is to provide comprehensive resources and dynamic services to support the learning, research and teaching needs of the College community.

The Library premises offer a wide range of facilities, including computing & IT, and a variety of study & reading spaces, designed to meet the different needs of students. We have a vast array of print and electronic resources to meet your research needs.

There are librarians available at all time, to help you find, access and use resources effectively and answer your queries.

 

 

Getting started

ILC Membership

Register with the library. Membership allows a student to:

  • Borrow, reserve, renew items
  • Access the electronic resources
  • Use of the library computing facilities and services
  • Print, Scan and photocopy
  • Reserve study spaces & rooms
  • Use library equipment

 

IT account (CITY College)

You need your CITY College computer account to access Library & Computing Services.

Your personal username & password will be given to you during the Induction Week and will allow you to log in to all services including Google Classroom (Unit materials), online library resources, computing facilities, email & other applications.

Your username cannot be changed.

If you forget or wish to change your password you should go to the Computing Support Staff, L. Sofou building, 7th floor or send an email: support@york.citycollege.eu

 

Library Website

The Library website includes detailed information about library collections and resources, services and facilities. It is the main ACCESS POINT to all ILC ONLINE SERVICES.

 

Online Library Catalogue

OpenABEKT contains records of material held by the library, such as books, periodicals, dissertations and audio-visual material. Use the simple or advanced option to narrow your search on specific titles or authors, or conduct a broader subject search.

 

YorSearch (York Library Search Tool)

Log in as a University Member and search the University of York Library catalogue.

YorSearch allows students to:

  • Locate library material such as articles and book chapters.
  • Link to a variety of online resources, including databases and ebook collections.
  • Access Subject Guide for CITY College students that have been put together by York Academic Liaison Librarians.

 

University of York Library Account

All new students receive an email from the University of York with the title “University of York - personal account setup” as part of their registration process. This email will contain a username and password and instructions on how to set up the account to access University of York library resources.

 

Research and Support

On the Research & Support webpages, you will find all the necessary information to conduct effective research on a specific topic. Our Subject Guides will help you choose the resources you need for your course, while our experienced staff will provide advanced guidance to help with your subject-related inquiries.

The subject guide brings together all the additional resources & services available to CITY College, University of York Europe Campus students via the University of York Library, as well as our Skills Guides and Online training resources that can help you develop your information and digital skills.
