Project on viral videos by our students

What makes videos go viral? Marketing students’ creativity was put to the test with this key question.

Rather than just writing an essay, final year students of the BA (Hons) in Business Studies (Marketing) programme were asked to develop viral videos for a client, in the frame of ‘Integrated marketing communications’ module led by Dr. Ana Cruz. These included a video focusing on the student life at the International Faculty, CITY College or a viral advert promoting the new postgraduate programme MA in Digital Marketing and Social Media.

The viral videos achieved over 4946 views- a remarkably difficult achievement! The project aimed at enhancing the students’ experience, cultural agility and employability. This was a fun and engaging way to learn critically and creatively how theory and research inform practice.
