Themed ‘Out There, Are They Looking for a Rockstar: Your Chance to Dazzle the World!’ the Career Fair 2013 was successfully organised by the Student Affairs and Career Planning Department on the 24th of April, bringing together students and alumni of the International Faculty with company representatives from a variety of industry sectors. The event took place at the Information and Learning Commons (ILC) at the main campus of the Faculty in Thessaloniki, creating a very special and warm atmosphere for all participants.
Despite the economic crisis, more than 20 companies and organisations participated in total, ready to offer internships and employment opportunities to our students and graduates in the immediate future.
Approximately 70 students participated in the event, met company representatives and head hunters and had the opportunity to present their CV, to discuss matters concerning the job market, to network, to seek career opportunities and to get a real-life experience of the interview process.
Within the framework of the Career Fair an Experiential Seminar took place entitled ‘Constructing Stories of a Professional Counsellor, Steps Forward. How do you prepare to face the professional field?’. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Adam Charvatis, Psychologist, Gestalt and narrative therapist, Scientific Director of the Institute for Narrative Therapy and Community Work (INT) and was addressed to students and alumni of our Psychology Department.
The feedback from companies’ representatives was very positive, all reporting how impressed they were from the students they interviewed, their professional approach and their value in the job market.

“On behalf of our company I would like to thank all the students who went through the interview process with such an enthusiasm, a process the most usually fear. The invitation of the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College to participate in this year’s Career Fair presented us with the opportunity to meet in person candidate colleagues that wish to pursue a career in the field of Industry, a field that contributes significantly to the progress of the Greek Economy. During the interviews we had the opportunity to discuss with the candidates but also answer their questions which proved to be a very productive process for both, making the interview process particularly interesting. We would like to thank the Student Affairs and Career Planning Department of the Faculty for this remarkable initiative and assure the Faculty that SP-CARTONPACK HELLAS AE will always be there to support its students in their career steps.
