Lecture by Dr Nikolaidis on HR policies and practices

On 15 April 2021, CITY College, University of York Europe Campus students attended an online presentation by Dr. Dimitrios V. Nikolaidis, Associate Professor in Marketing at our Business Department and CEO at EMBRYOLAB Fertility Clinic.The event took place in the context of the Human Resource Policies & Practices unit taught by Dr Giovanni Serafini to postgraduate students.

This highly engaging and insightful presentation titled 'HR policies and practices application in a cutting edge organisation: the case of Embryolab Fertility Clinic' focused on the importance of connecting HR policies and practices to organisational values and vision. Trust and respect in the workplace are essential preconditions allowing human capital to offer added value to the organisation. On this basis, Dr Nikolaidis argued that brands thrive because they attain to consistently deliver their distinctive promise by placing human resources at their core. In HR terms, this translates into an ongoing articulate process involving employee selection, training, coaching, work in teams and development. The resulting processes, structures, and systems need to be aligned with the organisational strategy. This can be attained through a leadership fully engaged to the shared vision, values and aims, and committed to achieving organisational goals while helping employees attain their.
