Recognition of Degrees

All our students and graduates are students and graduates of the University of York and are awarded –directly by the University- the same academic degree, regardless of the location of studies.

Τhe University of York is the awarding body of your degree. The University of York is a recognized British University meaning that the university degrees issued by the University are automatically recognized as UK university qualifications.

CITY College is located in Thessaloniki, Greece, and its legal entity complies with Greek laws. CITY College is licensed by the Greek Ministry of Education and operates according to law no 3696/2008 on the establishment and operation of Colleges (official gazette no A’ 177) and 4093/2012 (official gazette no A’ 222).

In Greece, following the EU legislation, the awarded degrees are recognised by the Greek state through the relevant Board of the Ministry of Education, “ATEEN”. They are granted professional recognition and the graduates have the right to exercise, as higher education graduates, their profession in the public and private sector (Presidential decree 38/2010). Due to the restrictions of the Greek Constitution, the degrees are not granted academic recognition locally in Greece.

However, the degrees have full academic and professional recognition in the UK.

The UK NARIC, the designated national agency for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills of UK, certifies that the degrees are entitled to the same professional and academic rights and priviledges of a UK university degree.  In addition, the UK NARIC is the UK representative in a wider operation of European Network of Information Centres (ENIC) across Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA.

All our graduates are entitled to receive upon request a UK NARIC certificate certifying the above.
