Accreditation and Recognition

CITY College is strongly committed to quality education and academic excellence. It is officially accredited and recognised by top international accreditation bodies.

 

 

UK National Information Centre (UK ENIC)

UK ENIC UK ENIC, the ‘National Information Centre’ is the official national agency in the UK which is responsible for the recognition of academic and professional rights and privileges of degree holders from UK Universities.

The degrees of the University of Sheffield that CITY College graduates receive are recognised and certified by UK ENIC.

UK ENIC is able to confirm that holders of the University of Sheffield degrees who studied at CITY College should be accorded the same professional and academic rights and privileges as any holders of any UK degree.

 

 

 

ACCREDITATION BODIES

The British Accreditation Council (BAC)

BAC CITY College was first accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for Independent Further and Higher Education in February 2001. The College received BAC’s re-accreditation in February 2007.

The official BAC’s Institutional Report states:
“…an overall excellent standard of provision in the areas assessed during the inspection…The College is highly unusual, if not unique, amongst independent higher education institutions in fostering an impressive research ethos which, in turn, underpins the quality of the teaching… the staff have academic qualifications and experience fully suited to a higher education institution...”

The British Accreditation Council (BAC) is an Independent body that acts as the British national accreditation agency for Independent further and higher education. Some organisations with nominees on the BAC council are:

  • The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)
  • The Council of Validating Universities (CVU)
  • Universities UK (formerly CVCP)
  • The Standing Conference of Principals (SCOP)
  • The British Council

 

 

Association of MBAs (AMBA)

AMBA The Executive MBA programme run by CITY College is accredited by the Association of MBAs. The programme satisfies each of the Association's rigorous MBA accreditation criteria.

Dr Robert Owen, Director of Accreditation and Business School Services at the Association of MBAs commented:"The Executive MBA is a result of a well established mutually beneficial partnership with the University of Sheffield. CITY College has excellent links with employing organisations throughout the region of South Eastern Europe which enhances the programme. In addition, the postgraduate programmes MSc in Management, MSc in Management (Human Resource Management), MSc in Management (Logistics and Supply Chain Management), are also accredited by AMBA.

The Association of MBAs' accreditation service is internationally recognised as the global standard for all Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Doctorates in Business Administration (DBA) and Masters in Business and Management (MBM) programmes. AMBA currently accredits MBA, DBA and MBM programmes at approximately 300 schools in over 70 countries.

 

 

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International)

AACSBThe Business and Management Bachelors and Masters programmes and the Executive MBA at CITY College leading to a University of Sheffield degree are accredited by AACSB.

AACSB International advances quality management education worldwide through accreditation, thought leadership, and value-added services. AACSB advances excellence in collegiate management education through world class accreditation and quality assurance services, conducts research to inform management education stakeholders and provides comprehensive services to assist schools of business to address management education challenges and improve quality.

 

 

 

PROFESSIONAL BODIES

Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

CMI CITY College is an Approved Centre of the CMI.

Our students completing the Executive MBA programme can receive two prestigious qualifications from one programme: the University of Sheffield degree and CMI’s most senior qualification: the L7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice. Our graduates will also become members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The Chartered Management Institute is the only chartered professional body that is dedicated to management and leadership.

 

 

BCS Accreditation and Exemption

BCS The Bachelor's programmes of the Computer Science Department were first accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) on 16th of April 2004 and have been re-accredited (5-year unconditional accreditation) ever since, with the last audit taking place in October 2019.

Our graduates may become members of the BCS. The undergraduate (bachelors) programmes of the Computer Science Department have been accredited as meeting the educational requirement for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) registration and partially meeting the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) registration.

The BCS is the industry body for IT professionals, and a Chartered Engineering Institution for Information Technology.

 

 

British Psychological Society (BPS)

BCSThe BA (Hons) in Psychology programme offered by CITY College leading to a University of Sheffield degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

 

 

 

 


For Psychology Graduates only:

The graduates of BSc in Psychology are eligible to seek graduate membership (MBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

 

The Health and Care Professions Council – HCPC is an official UK organization which acts as regulator and registers professionals who meet the standards for their education, professional skills, behaviour and health.

Our Graduates with a Bachelor’s in Psychology who continued their studies to Masters level and have been awarded our MSc in Counselling Psychology (along with adequate practical experience in a related field) or our MA in Counselling Psychology with Practicum, can apply for registration to the Health and Care Professions Council – HCPC through the International route. Applications to the HCPC are examined on an individual case, thus registration is not automatic but subject to the applicant meeting all the conditions set by the HCPC (i.e. training, health and character of the applicant).
