Open Class Overview:
This Open Class introduces participants to the Business Model Canvas (BMC) as a strategic tool tailored for entrepreneurs in the creative and cultural industries. Within a context often characterised by resource constraints, informal structures, and non-financial motivations, the BMC offers a structured yet adaptable framework for articulating how value is created, delivered, and captured. This Open Class explores each of the nine building blocks of the BMC, with particular emphasis on artistic identity, value propositions, customer segments, and revenue generation models. Participants will examine how the BMC enables continuous business model innovation and sustainability, while also accounting for social value and the distinct attributes of creative work.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Interpret and apply the Business Model Canvas specifically within creative and cultural contexts
- Analyse the interplay between artistic identity, value propositions, and customer segments
- Evaluate how the BMC supports business sustainability and adaptation through environmental scanning
- Develop actionable strategies to improve their business models, integrating both economic and social value dimensions
In the frame of the Open Class, participants will have the opportunity to attend a short presentation of the Bachelors and Masters programmes offered at CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in Thessaloniki, Greece and of the Pan-European Executive MBA, a dual degree MBA programme, leading to two MBA degrees, one from the British University of York and one from the French University of Strasbourg, offered in Yerevan.
