Contemporary & Applied Issues in Attention, UG and PG research supervision
I study inhibitory control and executive functions using behavioural and neuroscience methods, and informed by brain pathology (e.g., schizophrenia and acquired brain damage). I am also interested in looking at how these cognitive processes are affected by healthy and pathological (dementia) aging, life experiences such as being bilingual (learning and speaking a second language) and cognitive interventions. More recently a line of my research focuses on self-conscious emotions, which are those complex emotions directed to the self (e.g., shame, pride, self-disgust). I collaborate with Professor Angeles Estevez (University of Almeria, Spain) and other colleagues of the team to study the differential outcome procedure, contributing with my expertise above.
