Dr Anna G. Orfanidou is an Assistant Professor of Journalism in the Department of Humanities at the University of York Europe Campus and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). She is a researcher at the International Peace Journalism Laboratory at AUTh and a member of the Digital Communication Network Global and the UNESCO MILID Unitwin Network.
Her research focuses on media literacy, news consumption, disinformation, and the evolving relationship between audiences and news in the platform era. She has presented her research at numerous international conferences and published seven articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She holds a PhD from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at AUTh, awarded with distinction (Excellent).
Alongside her academic career, Dr Orfanidou has over 25 years of professional experience in journalism. She is also a columnist and vidcaster, and a member of the Journalists’ Union of Macedonia and Thrace Daily Newspapers. A native Greek speaker, she is fluent in English, German, French, and Spanish.
