Dr Penelope Chatzidimitriou holds a PhD in Theatre Studies from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MA in Theatre Studies and Directing from Royal Holloway University of London and a BA in English Language and Literature from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As a lecturer, she has rich experience in Greek and foreign universities in the field of theatre and performance studies, as well as English literature.

Her scholarly contributions include articles in esteemed publications such as Bloomsbury Methuen Drama, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Peter Lang, Theater der Zeit and China Theatre Press, as well as reviews for both international and Greek platforms, like Critical Stages-The International Association of Theatre Critics Journal and Athens Voice. Her most recent research, funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture, focuses on the interdisciplinary field of the theatrical representation of organ donation and transplantation (Medical Humanities). She is also currently exploring the area of Theatre and Ecology.

In 2022-2023, she was assigned in the position of scientific advisor by the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, for the educational programme “Nature & Man in Tragedy”. Since 2000, she has collaborated closely with the internationally acclaimed Greek theatre director Theodoros Terzopoulous, resulting in a published monograph and articles on his work. She is also a co-founder of the professional theatre company “Ars Moriendi” in Thessaloniki, holding the position of dramaturge.
