Fotios C. Syropoulos is a PhD Candidate at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, researching the use of AI in advertising and its ethical challenges under the supervision of Associate Professor Leonidas Hatzithomas. He combines over three decades of professional experience in marketing, retail management and adult education with ongoing academic research in digital advertising, influencer marketing and AI-driven brand communication.

At CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, he teaches Digital and Social Media Marketing (CHD2203) in the BA in Communication and Digital Media. He also serves as a Research Staff Member at the University of Macedonia's Internship and Career Services Office.

He is an active member of the international advertising research community, having presented at ICORIA 2024, 2025 and 2026, and chaired sessions and panels at these conferences. He holds a Cambridge CELTA qualification and is an accredited oral examiner (B1–C2) for ESB, LRN and TIE.
