Executive MBA Students Explore Risk Management at the Annual Study Trip in Thessaloniki
An insightful workshop by Mr Athanasios Fourtounas
As part of the Annual Study Trip in Thessaloniki, Executive MBA students from across all programme locations participated in an insightful workshop on "Risk Management: A Way to Avoid Crisis Management and Manage Losses", led by Mr. Athanasios Fourtounas, Assistant Professor at our Business Department.

During the workshop, participants gained hands-on experience with Risk Management processes through a detailed and realistic project scenario. The session guided them through the essential steps of effective risk assessment and mitigation, ensuring they could apply these principles in real-world business settings.

The workshop began with an analysis of the Project Charter, where participants familiarised themselves with the project’s scope and objectives. They were then divided into teams to identify key stakeholders and assess their potential impact on the project. With this foundation in place, participants moved on to developing a Risk Management Plan, followed by an in-depth identification of potential opportunities and threats. Using specialised Risk Management templates, they documented and debated the nature of each risk before proceeding to the qualitative analysis stage, where they prioritized risks based on their likelihood and impact. Finally, participants formulated risk response strategies and discussed monitoring techniques to effectively track and manage risks throughout the project’s execution.

Through this structured, hands-on approach, participants not only deepened their understanding of risk assessment and crisis prevention but also enhanced their strategic decision-making skills. By the end of the session, the enthusiastic discussions and smiling faces were clear signs that the workshop had successfully met its objectives—knowledge was gained, and valuable skills were acquired!
