BAED students visit Athenian Brewery SA
A group of second level students attending the BA (Hons) in Business Studies visited the Athenian Brewery plant in Thessaloniki, the largest producer and distributor of beer in Greece. The company visit took place on 15 January 2015 in the context of Marketing Management and Operations Management units. Escorted by Mr. Chris Liassides, Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies and Senior Lecturer in Marketing Management, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Stavros Dimou, Engineer and other members from the company’s management team. They were given a tour around the production line areas and were exposed to the various stages of the production of beer and other beverages. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and the answers provided to them added valuable knowledge to their existing understanding of the business environment. The company visit proved to be an interesting and educational experience for our students. Athenian Brewery S.A. is the largest producer and distributor of beer in Greece. It was established in 1963 by a group of Greek entrepreneurs and it is member of Heineken NV group. Today it sports four plants across Greece, three beer factories in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras and a factory in Lamia bottling natural mineral water IOLI. Interesting talk on the Psychology of Doping
The first ‘Psychology for all’ talk for 2015 entitled ‘The Psychology of Doping’ was delivered by Dr Vassilios Barkoukis, Professor at the T.E.F.A.A. Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The event took place on Wednesday, 14 January at our main campus in Thessaloniki. Dr Barkoukis discussed doping as one of the major issues in sports psychology, since today the use of doping substances has increased not only among athletes but also among people who workout. The speaker presented data from recent studies on demographic characteristics, motives, trends, social and ethical norms of drugs users and the ways these characteristics can affect an athlete’s decision to make use of drugs and supplements. Dr Barkoukis presentation raised a lot of questions by the audience and concluded with an interesting Q&A. Watch Dr Barkoukis’ presentation: Watch previous ‘Psychology for all’ events’

Christmas Charities by our students
It's Christmas all over our campus and within this holiday spirit our students led charities to help those in need and spread the love. Like every year, students of the Sunrise Movement run a charity to collect food and clothing items for SOS Children's Village. The community of the International Faculty responded warmly to their call and helped collect goodies for the children. Also, students of our Marketing Club sold T-shirts in support of the DOWN Syndrome Association, an association that they support every year at Christmas through their activities. These initiatives demonstrate that our students understand and appreciate charitable giving and citizenship and we are proud to have such passionate students who go beyond the classroom during their studies with us.
