Charity Christmas Party 2014 by our students
On the 17th December 2014, CITY’s Marketing Club (CMC) spread Christmas spirit organised for the fourth consecutive year a charity Christmas party at the “Via Sofou” café, a party that in a way has become a tradition at the International Faculty’s main campus in Thessaloniki. The event aimed at collecting money for the Down Syndrome Organization of Thessaloniki, in an effort to put a smile on children’s faces and assure that they will feel the Christmas cheer. The party entailed numerous interesting and exciting activities for all guests. A lottery was organised specifically in order to raise money for the charity, offering special prizes to guests. Students, lecturers and administration staff all had great fun and exchanged Christmas wishes. We hope that this effort will continue in the years to come, highlighting that CMC apart from its business-oriented projects is also willing to organise and support charity events.

Announcing the winner of SEERC’s Facebook Photo Contest!
And the iPad goes to… Nastasija Stosic! This is the winning photo that, with the caption ‘Smile and change the world’, earned Nastasija an iPad through the Facebook photo contest run by our research centre, SEERC on the occasion of the celebration of its 10th anniversary. Nastasija, 1st level student at the BA (Hons) in Business Studies at the International Faculty won the contest with flying colours as she managed to collect 281 votes, nearly double the votes of the runner-up photo that took the second place with 169 votes. Themed ‘SEE the World and Make it Better’ and addressed to all University of Sheffield students across the globe, SEERC’s Facebook contest run for three whole weeks and attracted 26 submissions of lovely photos conveying a positive meaning for a better world. The contest was a success overall as it reached approximately 20.000 views while many users voted, liked, shared and commented on participating photos. Mr. Nikos Zaharis, Director of SEERC congratulated Nastasija gave her her prize. He also took the opportunity to discuss with her the winning photo as well as her views on her studies at the International Faculty and her career aspirations after graduation. “I am really happy people liked my photo and of course I am happy for winning the iPad! The photo was taken in Belgrade on top of a building two years ago on a day that I was having real fun with my best friend. Actually she took that photo of me and I have nice memories from that day. I thought the photo was suitable for the contest as it has bright colours, balloons – that I adore – and a big smile. I chose the caption ‘Smile, can change the world’ because I believe that sometimes that’s all that it takes to change the world: a warm smile!, said Nastasija. The contest took place on the occasion of the celebrations of SEERC’s 10th anniversary. Throughout 2014 our research centre, SEERC, celebrates a decade of continuous presence and research activity in the South East European region.
