Our postgraduate students in Bucharest visit Intact Media Group
On the 18th of October the students from the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College, visited Intact Media Group, Romania's leading media group. The second year postgraduate students of the MA Marketing, Advertising and PR did not visit the TV studios or the newsroom. Instead students focused on strategic issues, they were interested in the latest developments in media and how the marketing department operates in a major media group. Mr. Nicu Damu, Marketing Manager of Euphoria , Antenna 2 and GSP TV, provided the students with key insights into the challenges and opportunities for media today - both traditional and new media. Students also benefited from his insightful presentation on the structure of a marketing department in television. For one hour students discussed the challenges of a Brand Manager in television, and how he/she works with other departments to create a campaign. The presentation was followed by a visit to the departments of marketing, public relations, and promotion. Host and narrator, Cristina Jura, Marketing Director in Antenna Group, guided the students into the road of campaign from brief to final output. The students were impressed by the promotion department. They saw how promos are built from the development of mood boards, developing the corporate image of a new TV channel, to the final product promoting a TV show. Fun and insightful, the company visit was part of the Advertising and Sales Promotion Management unit led by Dr. Cruz in Bucharest. Company visits and guest speakers are key to enhance our students' experience, help them build a strong network of professional contacts and enhance their employability by being exposed to the latest developments in theory and practice.
