Announcement of Scholarships for students through the Municipality of Vushtrri, Kosovo

The Municipality of Vushtrri, Kosovo and CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, in Thessaloniki, Greece are pleased to announce that they are offering 10 scholarships for students from the Municipality of Vushtrri, Kosovo. The scholarships are available for Bachelors and Masters studies. Useful information about the scholarships:   Official Scholarships Announcement You can read the Official Scholarships Announcement and start collecting the required documents.   Presentation of the Scholarships Mr Gregory Dikaios, Director of Student Recruitment, will be in Prishtina to present the University and the scholarships. Interested candidates are encouraged to attend this presentation. The presentation will be held on: Friday, 9 June 2023, 5.00 pm, at the Sirius Hotel in Prishtina.   Submission of Applications You should submit your application and documents in person to the Municipality of Vushtrri, Protocol Office by: Friday, 16 June 2023, 10.00 am Mr Gregory Dikaios, Director of Student Recruitment, will be in Prishtina on Friday, 16 June 2023, 3.00 - 7.00 p.m., at the Sirius Hotel to collect all candidates’ applications and check the submitted documents.   English Language Test An English Language Test will be organised on Saturday, 17 June 2023, 10:00 am at the Sirius Hotel in Prishtina (for those who do not possess an official English certificate).

CITY College students visit the 5* luxurious SANI Resort in Halkidiki

On the 26th of May, students from our Business Administration and Economics Department had the opportunity to visit SANI Resort in Halkidiki and get first-hand perspectives on hospitality and tourism from representatives of the five star luxury resort. Athanasios Spyridopoulos, General Manager Sani Dunes & Porto Sani, Fanis Kromidas, MarCom Director, Sani/Ikos Group, Lia Zampetoglou, Lenia Tzelou, Talent Experience Senior Manager, Sani/Ikos Group, and Maria Vathylaki, Leadership Culture Senior Manager, Sani/Ikos Group welcomed our students and shared valuable insights during the company visit. Their commitment made the experience truly memorable for our students. This activity titled 'Exploring Hospitality Excellence: A Journey Through Sani Resort' provided participating students with the unique opportunity to engage with company executives who shared their valuable expertise. Our students learnt the underlying factors behind Sani Resort global success, which is a captivating blend of meticulous attention to detail, passionate hospitality, innovation, and environmental stewardship. Additionally, the students had the privilege of touring the premises, gaining a first-hand glimpse into the resort's unwavering commitment to surpassing expectations. The company visit was offered to CITY College students as part of third-year action learning projects supervised by Dr Giovanni Oscar Serafini.

Online guest lecture on diversity in the workplace by Ms Lisa Clark from the University of York

On 25 May 2023, students from our Business Administration & Economics Department had the outstanding opportunity to attend an online presentation by Ms Lisa Clark, Lecturer in Management at the University of York School for Business and Society: 'All That We Are - Unlocking the Power of Diversity and Embracing Strategies for Effective EEO and Talent Management in Today's Workplace'. In this thought-provoking and highly interactive lecture, Ms. Lisa Clark stressed that adopting diversity and inclusion is not just a moral imperative, but also a strategic advantage for organisations. In fact, there is a transformative power in valuing and embracing differences. By fostering diverse and inclusive environments, organisations can unlock immense potential. Diverse perspectives lead to improved decision-making, enhanced innovation, and increased performance. Moreover, inclusive workplaces attract top talent, foster collaboration, and build a positive brand image. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Lisa Clark for an enlightening presentation that sparked important conversations on diversity and inclusion. This guest lecture was offered to CITY College students as part of the third-year Human Resource Management unit led by Dr Giovanni Oscar Serafini.

Neuroscience Week at CITY College Europe Campus

CITY College, University of York Europe Campus celebrated neuroscience by organising the ‘Neuroscience Week’ on 16-19 May 2023. The event aimed at familiasing our students with this fascinating, ever-evolving science and helping them become acquainted with the work done at CITY College regarding neuroscience through the Neuroscience Research Centre (NEUREC) and our fully equipped labs. The week involved various activities, presentations and events including interesting talks. Participants also had the unique opportunity to attend a live demonstration of EEG setup at our Neuroscience Lab and an Eye tracking demonstration at our Applied Neuroscience Lab. The Neuroscience Week concluded successfully while students became actively engaged in the week’s activities.

Guest Lecture on 'HR in Circular Economy' by HR Consulrant, Mr Theodoros Panagiotopoulos

Mr Theodoros Panagiotopoulos, People Operations Manager at VIPA Group, delivered an insightful guest lecture to our students from our Business Administration & Economics Department on 'HR in the Circular Economy: The case of VIPA Hellas'. His expertise and passion for Human Resource Management were truly inspiring and undoubtedly broadened our students' perspectives. By focusing on the case of VIPA Group, a global leader in trading recovered materials and paper, Mr Panagiotopoulos covered key HRM areas, such as employer branding, employee experience, HR systems and policies, and digital transformation. It emerged that VIPA Hellas particularly strives towards nurturing a talent pool committed to sustainability, fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce, and prioritising employee welfare and development. The openness with which Mr Panagiotopoulos engaged with the audience, answering questions in a detailed and thorough manner, was truly appreciated. This guest lecture was offered to our students as part of the third-year Human Resource Management unit led by Dr Giovanni Oscar Serafini.

Students and academics from the University of York visit CITY College Europe Campus in Thessaloniki

An exciting visit aimed at enriching the student experience, empowering global connections and fostering intercultural communication   An excellent opportunity for our students to meet and interact with fellow students from York, UK and professors in order to exchange ideas and learn from each other Students from our Business Administration & Economics Department had a remarkable opportunity to meet academics and students from the School for Business and Society of the University of York, UK during a two-day event that was held 3-4 May 2023 at the main campus of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus. Students had an enlightening learning and networking experience. They shared and discussed ideas within the framework of their 'Business Planning' and 'Entrepreneurship' modules, they were exposed to recent sustainability and ESG trends through inspiring talks from high-esteemed professionals of four big companies, visited the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center of CISCO, they made memorable connections, got to know the city of Thessaloniki, enjoyed the Greek cuisine and city nightlife. Mr. Alexandros Theodoridis, Co-Founder and CEO of Boroume, Mr. Dimitris Boufeas, Head of Imports, Exports and Biofuels of Cetracore Jetoil SA, Mr. Georgios Fytianos, Sustainability Manager of Alumil, S.A. and Ms. Gianna Tzika, CEO of KONVA AEBE shared their professional experience and insights with a diversified audience. A big thank you to all University of York colleagues that joined us here in Thessaloniki for this event, Lecturer Claire Sinclair, Dr. Nicola Forsdike, Senior Lecturer Jane Suter, Lecturer Catherine Botting, Dr. Simon Kelly, who assisted York students with their presentations, Ms Violeta Sfouri, Academic Director of BAED Postgraduate Programmes and Module Leader of the Entrepreneurship module for assisting CITY College students with their presentations, the BAED Management Team, Ms. Aggeliki Papakonstantinou, Head of BAED, Dr. Fenia Mavrodi, Academic Director of BAED Undergraduate Programme and Ms. Christina Michou, Programme Coordinator of BAED Undergraduate Programme. We would also like to thank all the event coordinators and CITY College Ambassadors for their tremendous help in successfully executing every single detail and last but not least the CITY College CSU for organising a smashing closing party!

Official launch of academic partnership with the Romanian-American University for dual degree programmes

CITY College, University of York Europe Campus officially announced its strategic partnership with a leading university in Romania, the Romanian-American University (RAU), and the commencement of dual-degree Bachelors and Master programmes at the official launch event that took place in Bucharest at the campus of RAU, on the 16th of May 2023. The event was attended by representatives of CITY College Europe Campus, the University of York and RAU namely: Mr. Yannis Ververidis, President and Principal of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, Prof. Steve King, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of York and Prof. Costel Negricea, Rector of the Romanian-American University. Guests who honored the event with their presence included H.E. Mr. Andrew James Noble, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Romania, Mr. Nikolaos Vlahakis, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Public Diplomacy, Embassy of Greece, H.E. Mr. Ambassador Cristian Diaconescu, President of the Foreign Business Center, and Cristian China Birta - Managing Partner of Kooperativa 2.0. Prof. Steve King, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, Prof. Costel Negricea, Rector of the Romanian-American University, and Mr Yannis Ververidis, President and Principal of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus Through this new dynamic academic partnership students in Romania will be given the unique opportunity join our dual degree programmes in Bucharest leading to two degrees: a degree from a world-class university, the University of York (139th in the world - Times Higher Education –THE 2023) and a degree from the Romanian-American University.
