PhDICTKES: The Inauguration of the National Research School (NRSI) in Kosovo
SEERC and CITY College, University of York are honoured to announce the inauguration of the National Research School in ICT (NRSI), which was organized on March 3rd, 2023 in the premises of the University of Prishtina. The National Research School in ICT (NRSI) is a result of the PhDICTKES (Erasmus+) project and aims to provide specialized training and education to students and professionals in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It marks as a significant achievement of the project towards innovation and capacity building regarding the field of ICT in Kosovo. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, representatives of the government and diplomatic missions in the country, rectors of partner universities, academics and students from Kosovo and abroad. It included speeches by officials and academics as well as presentations on the vision and goal of NRSI. SEERC director Mr. Nikos Zaharis attended the ceremony and through his speech emphasized the commitment of SEERC and CITY College, University of York, to continue supporting and cooperating with the National Research School in ICT (NRSI), in terms of academic capacity building, staff and student mobility and research cooperation. The PhDICTKES project is a joint initiative of the Kosovo government, the European Union, and local and international universities and organizations as Linnaeus University (LNU), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), South-East European Research Centre (SEERC), University of Prishtina (UP), UBT College (UBT), Ukshin Hoti University (UHU), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST). The project aims to support the development of the ICT sector in Kosovo by providing specialized training and education, promoting research and innovation, and creating new job opportunities.

Successful event on ESG - Environment Society and Governance CITY College and TCCI
The online event on 'ESG - Environment Society and Governance' that was organised by CITY College University of York Europe Campus and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) was successfully held on Monday, 13 March 2023. The event took place within the framework of the 'Certificate in ESG Management' programme offered by the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of CITY College. Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of CITY College and Mr. Emmanouil Vlachogiannis, 1st Vice President of TCCI opened the event and addressed a short welcome. The speaker of the event, Dr Paschalis Kastanas, Head of Sustainable Packaging at Nestle Greece, Mentor, Lean Early Management Philosophy and Coach, Circular Economy for Waste Framework EU Directive spoke in detail about ESG, a term that is now redefining the world of businesses. In his presentation he explained that the acronym ESG summarises the tripartite ‘Environment-Society-Governance and is related to a company's ability to present sustainable development, adopting strategies based on environmental, social and corporate governance criteria, according to modern ESG standards. Online Participation Form Join the Webinar Speaker: Ms Tanya Livarda EFL Teacher, Teacher trainer, Exams content creator, Oral examiner Tanya Livarda (BA/MA in TESOL, DELTA, CELTA) is an EFL teacher, teacher trainer, exams content creator, and an oral examiner in Greece and abroad. She has attended and completed a plethora of courses delivered by universities in Greece and abroad. She is an avid supporter of lifelong learning. She has also presented at various conferences here and abroad and her articles can be found in magazines and academic journals. Her main research interests are teachers’ mentoring, teachers’ observation and feedback as well as the introduction of Social Emotional Learning in the classroom. Finally, she is a board member of TESOL Macedonia Thrace Northern Greece, a member of TESOL Greece, and of IATEFL. About the webinar: Mentoring is traditionally defined as a way for the most experienced practitioner to help the inexperienced one. However, according to Gardiner and Weisling (2020), mentoring is ‘complex and important work that can have a long-lasting impact on both parts’. This seminar is highly interactive and it is based on the theoretical background of mentoring and effective leadership. CITY College representatives at the closing event of IOM's HARP Skills Development project
Representatives from CITY College, University of York Europe Campus participated in IOM's HARP Skills Development project closing event where IOM’s team shared valuable knowledge, best practices, and insights gained throughout their impactful journey. CITY College representatives also had the opportunity to showcase the collaborative projects developed at CITY College Europe Campus, involving our dedicated volunteers, students, and staff. Ms. Ioanna Kapnopoulou, Head of Public Engagement and Corporate Services, presented three inspiring initiatives: "A journey into the lives of Yazidis in Greece" photo exhibition, the ongoing "Summer School Cultural Exchange Collaboration Project," and the www.integration4all.gr platform. Dr. Dimitris Dranidis, Head of the Computer Science Department, offered more detailed information about the online platform developed by Computer Science students, a collaborative effort between IOM and our Computer Science department, designed to facilitate the successful integration of recognised refugees and asylum seekers into the Greek labor market and society. Dr Alexandra Prodromidou, Assistant Professor of the Business Administration and Economics Department and Dr Kelly Pasmatzi, Assistant Professor and Director of Research of the Humanities Department are co-organisers of the Summer School on Migration. We would like to warmly thank the passionate team at IOM's HARP Skills Development project for inviting us to their closing event.
