Dr Cruz invited as judge in prestigious global online marketing competition, GOMAC 2022
Dr Ana Cruz Congratulations to Dr Ana Cruz on being invited as one of the judges of the Global Online Marketing Academic Challenge (GOMAC 2022). GOMAC is a worldwide competition open to any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course at a higher education institution. Student teams, in conjunction with an industry client, compete to create, run, optimize and report on digital marketing campaigns that include Google Ads and any other digital advertising platform/channel. The results of the challenge have been announced. Dr. Ana Cruz is an Assistant Professor at the Business Administration & Economics Department of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus. She teaches marketing and digital marketing and specializes on what makes content go viral. Dr Cruz commented: “Congrats to the winners, to participants, to the supervisors and to the organizing committee. It was an honor to be one of the judges. Truly impressed and humbled by the high level of the entries. Entries for GOMAC 2023 are open now. This is an excellent teaching and learning opportunity to learn digital marketing hands-on. For academics it is a great opportunity to enhance your students' experience.”

Prof. Ketikidis participates as speaker in the Balkan Forum in Thessaloniki
Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Vice President for Research & Innovation at CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, will participate as invited speaker in the Balkan Forum in Thessaloniki, taking place on Wednsesday, 5 October 2022. Themed “Digital transformation, networking, collaborations and convergences in the Balkans” the forum's scope it to capture the existing level of the technological ecosystem in the Balkans with the aim of developing networks and collaborations to improve it, leading to a new digital era. PhD Award - Congratulations Dr Kladakis!
Congratulations to George Kladakis, who was awarded his PhD. Congratulations also to George’s supervisors, Dr Bellos and Dr Chen, for their great work and support. Dr Kladakis holds a Msc in Finance and Investments from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and a BA in Business Studies (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Sheffield. He has experience in cleansing, transforming, and modeling financial data. He won the Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience in 2015 and he has worked in the Dutch startup ecosystem. His research interests are focused on banking and market microstructure.

Article by CITY College academics gets published in leading international journal
An academic article co-authored by Dr Manousos Klados, Associate Professor at our Psychology Department, Dr Simeon Veloudis, Associate Professor at our Computer Science Department and Senior Researcher at SEERC and Christos Stergiadis, Research Associate at SEERC, has been published on Sensors, a leading international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on the science and technology of sensors. More specifically the article ‘A Personalized User Authentication System Based on EEG Signals’ is an interdisciplinary work involving the Departments of Psychology and Computer Science of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, together with the 3rd Neurological Clinic of Papanikolaou hospital. The article focuses on the issue of self authentication. In our everyday lives, we all use different methods to authenticate ourselves, like our personal password or our fingerprint, in order to gain access to our devices (mobile phone, computer etc.). In systems with higher security standards though, like governmental or military facilities, a more robust authentication system is necessary to prevent intruder attacks or information leaks. In this line, the article addresses this issue by introducing a personalised user authentication technique based on electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The proposed system is both more accurate and practical compared with previous attempts in this field and poses as a viable option for actual use in the future.
