Congratulations to undergraduate students of our Business Administration & Economics Department, namely Valeria Liouta, Kelly Kelpetsidou and Katerina Martsiou, whose paper in Service Management Quality was accepted to be presented at the 22nd Excellence in Services International Conference" to be held in Thessaloniki, 29-30 August 2019. This is a remarkable achievement on behalf of our students since their paper was one of the few accepted papers submitted by undergraduate students. Most of the papers selected to be presented were from Masters and PhD students, indicating the level of difficulty and high standards of the conference. Our students are more than excited with their achievement and upcoming ceonference participation. “Who could have imagined that after 3-4 years of studying at CITY College, using countless articles from Scholar for our assignments, our work would be available in a platform for other students to use as a reference. It's a dream come true! said Valeria while Kelly commented: “I feel very proud and happy for our team because we have achieved to write a paper that stood out and present it in such a conference among Masters and PhD graduates! Hard work is definitely rewarded!” Finally Katerina added: “Considering the dedication we put into that research, it is so satisfactory that all this effort is rewarded with a publication opportunity. Insistence and hard work certainly bring amazing experiences!” Dr Vassilis Blessios, Lecturer in Marketing at the Business Administration & Ecnomics Department, who supervised the research paper commented on the students’ achievement: “I had the pleasure to supervise the Research Paper of Varvara Liouta, Kalliopi Kelpetsidou, and Aikaterini Martsiou, under the title "Application of the GAP Model of Service Quality: The Case of McDonalds in Thessaloniki, Greece". The paper was conducted in the framework of the 3rd Year Class "Managing Service Quality" at CITY COLLEGE - International Faculty of the University of Sheffield. The team did an extraordinary study, especially for Undergraduate level students, utilizing secondary research methods, reviewing all the latest scientific Literature and applying GAP model theory into a real case project, that led to the extraction of valuable conclusions and recommendations for the fast food giant that can further enhance McDonalds' Service Quality. I would like to complement Varvara,Kelly and Aikaterini for their outstanding level of commitment and hard work and wish them all the best for the future endeavours.” All papers to be presented at the conference will also be singularly indexed in Google Scholar. Open MBA Seminar on Holacracy in Bucharest by Mr. Kehaghias
Mr. Stelios Kehaghias successfully delivered an Open MBA Seminar on Holacracy in Bucharest. The event took place 30 May 2019 at the Hilton Hotel. "Holacracy - Reinventing the way we manage" was the title of the seminar led by Mr. Kehaghias, Director of Training & Development / Industrial Liaison of Executive Development Institute (EDI) at CITY College International Faculty. The speaker argued that at times when changes are manifesting at exponential rates it is a paradox that management has not significantly changed in the past decades. “Companies are positioned very often in hypercompetitive markets that resemble red oceans and strive to develop competitive advantage through marketing and operational innovation. This competitive advantage is often short-lived and not sustainable. Management innovation introduces a new approach to managing that is very divergent from our existing management approaches,” said Mr Kehaghias. Mr. Kehaghias underpinned the importance of employee empowerment to a level that is unprecedented and involves radical decentralisation. This approach to management innovation results to lower costs, greater initiative, and higher employee loyalty. When compared to other types of innovation it contributes significantly to the development of sustainable competitive advantage. Managers and business professionals who participated in the seminar had the opportunity to develop an understanding of what management innovation is, how it works and what are the issues faced by companies that are implementing it. The seminar took place in the context of the Executive MBA programme successfully delivered in Bucharest by CITY College, International Faculty of the University of Sheffield for 13 years now.
