Risk Management Unit continued for our Business Students
On the 16th and 18th of April our undergraduate students (3rd level) from the Business Administration and Economics Department attended the second part of the Risk Management Unit, led by Mr. Athanasios Fourtounas, Trainer, Economist and Director of Logistics in JLSG NATO (Italy). Mr. Athanasios Fourtounas with 3rd level business students During the two-day part topics discussed included. Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis, Plan Risk Responses and Monitor and Control Risks. Moreover, the first two teams of the students presented their assignments on a Stakeholders Case study about the "Swedish Nuclear Waste Management facilities" and an Identify Risks Case Study about the "Renovation of Wembley Stadium in the UK". Guest lecture by Mr Thomas Panagiotou The Risk Management unit concluded with a guest lecture by Mr Thomas Panagiotou, representative of ZeusRFID, a high technology and innovation company. The speaker presented how Risk Management is applied in his company. Students had the opportunity to see how risk management works the real world and gain valuable insights.

Call for PhD Applications at SEERC
(Deadline 22/06/2018) The South East European Research Centre invites applications for studying towards a PhD degree of the University of Sheffield, through the Doctoral Programme of SEERC. The deadline for applying is June 22, 2018. Details concerning the available research topics and the application submission process can be found in the Call for Applications. A small number of fee waiver studentships will become available to qualifying candidates who will apply for full time studies only.

17th International Students’ Spring Symposium 2018
11th May 2018 L. Sofou Building, (3 L. Sofou st.), Thessaloniki, Greece Since the spring of 2002, students of the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College, have been successfully organising the Students’ Spring Symposium every May. Over the past 16 years the Students’ Spring Symposium (or S3 as it has become known) has become a celebration of student co-operation and ingenuity, a time for provocative thinking and interaction. This year we are proud to continue the tradition and invite you to present your ideas to the 17thInternational Students’ Spring Symposium. The general idea of the Symposium is to present student projects, research and ideas, on topics relevant to their studies and academic interests. Major topics of interest include but are not limited to: Advertising & Public relations Applied Linguistics Artificial Intelligence Crisis Cognitive Neuroscience Cryptocurrency E-Business Equality Foreign Language Teaching Innovation Internet and Security Literature Mental Health Migration Research in Psychology Start-up & Entrepreneurship Social Networks Software Development & Engineering Translation & Interpreting All students are welcome to submit an extended abstract (1-2 pages) to the secretariat of the symposium (s3-18@citycollege.sheffield.eu) for a review. 'CITY College Running Team' at the 13th ‘Alexander the Great’ International Marathon
For another consecutive year, ‘CITY College Running Team’ participated in the Alexander the Great Marathon, joining more than 20.000 road runners who raced at the 13th ‘Alexander the Great’ International Marathon, the biggest athletic event in Northern Greece. Engaging in the ‘Healthy Body, healthy mind’ spirit, our running team comprised staff and students who joined the race and enjoyed the experience. This year’s participation was special since our team run with the child organisation "The Smile of the Child" (Hamogelo tou Paidiou) in order to support, strengthen and help the NGO’s efforts. The Organisation supports children victims of any form of violence, missing children, children with health problems, children living in poverty or threatened by poverty. The International Faculty warmly congratulates all marathon participants and its Students’ Union (CSU) for organising our participation and celebrating the athletic spirit!

Launch of new Programme for Management Development for EBA members in Kyiv
The 31st of March 2018 marked the successful launch of a new Programme for Management Development with a new group of EBA members in Kyiv. The first module on “HR Management & Organisational Behaviour’ was delivered by Dr Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the Executive MBA programme offered by the International Faculty CITY College. During this first module Dr Szamosi outlined a number of different key issues that can energise and motivate people to be become the best version of themselves and do their best. “Every organisation says that its most important resource is its people! Yet, how we manage these resources, what makes them effective and what they are looking for is very often misunderstood.” commented Dr Szamosi and continued: “What experience has taught us is that creating a motivated workforce goes well beyond simple payment of wages. And, today, this is being even more complicated by the Millennials (Generation Y) joining our companies.” Dr Szamosi shared with participants inspiring insights to help them adopt a new way of thinking towards HR and put into effect new practices. The goal of this second Programme for Management Development is to equip professional with skills and knowledge, which are required for meeting company’s strategic objectives; understanding business as an integrated system in the interrelationship of organisational, financial, marketing decisions aimed at increasing business competitiveness.
