Cookie Days 2017- A well kept Holiday tradition at the International Faculty
As the tradition of the International Faculty goes, the Department of Student Services and Alumni served freshly baked cookies and hot coffee for two days at the premises of our Faculty in Thessaloniki. Students, staff and guests had the opportunity to take their treat and exchange holiday wishes within a warm and festive atmosphere.

Christmas Mood On during Computing Skills for Business Class
With Christmas coming up, our business students brought some holiday cheer during the "Computing Skills for Business" unit while doing a revision quiz as a class on everything they have learned so far... The knowledge game concluded with three winners while one was the winner of the typing game, who was also awarded a prize for her success! Learning should be fun every now and then!

The difference made by students of the Sunrise Movement with Christmas Charity for SOS Children's Village Plagiari
With the Holiday Season, the season of giving, approaching the International Faculty and the Sunrise Movement - our student club dedicated to volunteerism and social action – successfully organised a Christmas Charity in support of SOS Children’s Village Plagiari. The whole community of the International Faculty warmly responded to the call and collected a significant amount of donations and items to support the children at SOS Children’s Village Plagiari. Our students showed willingness to volunteer time and extended love and care to those who are in need. This charity activity is in line with the International Faculty’s corporate mission to public engagement and our students’ education towards that mission.

Graduation Ceremony of the Participants of the Programme for Management Development in Kyiv
Congratulations to the first graduates of Programme for Management Development that was successfully completed in Kyiv! The programme concluded with the the delivery of the sixth unit of the programme that was followed by the Graduation Ceremony where all participants celebrated their achievement together with their lecturers and staff from the International Faculty CITY College and the European Business Association (EBA). The programme run in cooperation with our educational partner in Kyiv, EBA, and was completed in six months. The programme was taught by Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis, Dr Alexandros Psychogios, Dr Leslie Szamosi and Mr Nikos Lambridis who brought their valuable knowledge and insights in the classroom. As reported by the participants they spent a great time together studying and networking. Mr Lambridis delivers the sixth module of the Programme for Management Development in Kyiv
The Programme for Management Development in Kyiv was successfully completed on 16th December with the sixth module delivered by Mr Nikos Lambridis, Head MBA Student Coach for Career and Professional Development of our Executive MBA programme. Mr Lambridis pointed out that the challenge to Authentic Leaders is to develop followers in a manner that utilises the knowledge of mirror neurons, including acting as a mentor, being visible as a role model and coach, and using salient visual, auditory and written information to communicate expectations and Vision. During his presentation he continued to outline the potential contribution of Neuroleadership to increased insight and understanding of Authentic Leadership, including the future development of leaders as to greater authenticity and self-awareness. Participants found this module particularly intriguing and generated provoking discussion. The Programme for Management Development was designed to equip professionals with skills and knowledge, which are required for meeting companies’ strategic objectives; understanding business as an integrated system in the interrelationship of organizational, financial, marketing decisions aimed at increasing business competitiveness. The University of Sheffield International Faculty is ‘educational partner’ of EBA, one of Kyiv’s key business associations.

‘Psychology for all’ starts with two successful talks for academic year 2017-18
The ‘Psychology for All’ open lectures series kicked of for academic year 2017-18 with two particularly successful events that took place in November and December 2017. The first event on ‘Eating Habits and Disorders’ was delivered on 24 November by Elisavet Parthenioti, Gestalt Foundation graduate and Counselling trainer. Ms Parthenioti discussed the psychology behind eating habits and disorders, pointing out that they are often linked to poor psychological health. She went on to describe the causes and possible treatment and care. The second event of the series was presented by Ms Anastasia Varsamopoulou, Psychologist and Gestalt Therapist, who joined the Psychology for All series to present a talk on ‘Autism: a different neurodevelopment of the brain’. Both events were well-attended and drew a full house. The series will continue to host 1-hour talks by different guest speakers specialising in different psychology areas who will be sharing their knowledge and expertise.

The Music Club of the International Faculty starts rehearsing
Our Music Club started rehearsing! Students of the Music Club met to rehearse at the Maverick Studio in Thessaloniki. The Music Club brings together students who genuinely enjoy music and aims at organising events and activities throughout the year. The Music Club meets for rehearsals once per week. Anyone wishing to join the Music Club may send an email at studentservices@citycollege.sheffield.eu. Surprises coming soon, so stay tuned!

Prof. Ketikidis elected Board Member of the Triple Helix Association Board
Congratulations to Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Vice Principal of the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College on his election as Board Member of the Triple Helic Association (THA) Board at the latest THA elections in December 2017. Prof. Ketikidis is currently an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Triple Helix Association (THA) and the President of the Triple Helix Greek Chapter. The newly elected board will officially take office from 1st January 2018. The Triple Helix Association (THA) is a non-for-profit, non- governmental association with scientific purpose and a global reach. Its main scope is to advance the scientific knowledge and practical achievements related to all aspects of the interaction between academy-industry-government (Triple Helix) for fostering research, innovation, economic competitiveness and growth.

Mr Pavlidis participates as speaker in the 18th National Conference of the Sport Educators Association of N. Greece
Mr George Pavlidis, Lecturer at our Psychology Department, PhD Candidate in of Gerontology at our research centre, SEERC, and former professional basketball player with international career, participated as speaker in the 18th National Conference of the Sport Educators Association of Northern Greece where he delivered a particularly insightful presentation. The event took place 9 December 2017 in Thessaloniki. In his speech entitled “Successful Psychosocial Development of High Performance Athletes” he explored the differential development that high performance athletes face, extending from younger age till retirement from sports, which may produce deficits that hinders their adjustment to their post-competition life. Mr. Pavlidis outlined several suggestions on how high performance athletes can engage in behaviours that will help their psychosocial development, and how they can be supported in these efforts by their trainers, parents, sport clubs, and federations. Mr Pavlidis is a graduate of the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, CITY College. Prior to his studies, he was a professional basketball player for 13 years in Germany, Greece and Spain. In the past, he has been the president of the Hellenic Professional Basketball Players Association.

The Psychology Department announces official partners for the MA in Clinical Neuropsychology
The Psychology Department of the International Faculty CITY College is happy to announce that the Outpatient Unit for Memory, Dementia and other Related Disorders of the Neurology Department of Papageorgiou General Hospital in Efkarpia, Thessaloniki and the Rehabilitation Center 'Anagennisi' are official partners for the MA in Clinical Neuropsychology programme. Greek-speaking students trained in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of patients with brain-damage will have the opportunity to conduct their clinical practice in the above institutions under the supervision of qualified Faculty and professionals. Clinical Neuropsychology is a fast developing field, which has much to offer to patients suffering from brain-damage or neurological conditions. This unique partnership between an academic institution offering one of the very few master degrees in Clinical Neuropsychology in Greece, and two well-established and important health institutions in Thessaloniki will contribute towards the progress of Clinical Neuropsychology in Greece, and to the development of a better health service for neurological patients. These official partnerships are a great asset for the MA in Clinical Neuropsychology.
