Marketing Students Competition in Effective Packaging
Final year marketing students of the Business Administration and Economics Department participated in groups in a Competition themed "Packaging That Sells From Theory to Practice" that was organised in context of the Integrated Marketing Communications module led by Dr. Ana Cruz. Students were asked to prepare a presentation and evaluate the packaging of an existing product. The winning team chose Redbull as the product for their packaging strategy and presentation, while the second team chose Trident Xtra Care. Congratulations to the winning team and to the runner up team as well to all participating students! Company Visits – Fall semester 2017
Visits to some of the most dynamic companies and organisations operating in Northern Greece are an integral part of the learning experience at the International Faculty. Students have a chance to widen their horizons, are exposed to real business world, contemporary business practices and enhance the theoretical practice. Working with industry is crucial in building and enhancing our students’ employability skills. The intention of company visits is also to better prepare students enter the workforce. During Fall Semester 2017 a number of company visits took place for students from different departments and levels, some of which are listed below. The Head Coach of the Executive MBA participates in HR Forum of the Albanian Banking Association
On 4 October 2017, Mr Nikos Lambridis, Head MBA student Coach for Career and Professional Development at the International Faculty Executive MBA programme delivered a keynote speech at the HR Forum of the Albanian Association in Banking (AAB) that took place in Tirana. Themed ‘Human Resources Management in Digital Banking’ the Forum was focused on the new skills needed to develop and maintain new technologies in the banking sector, generating learning needs for leadership and management. The event brought together HR international and national experts who discussed the ability to learn and adapt to changes that will continue to characterize bank employees through digital transformation.

Mr Lambridis at the Annual Conference of the International Coach Federation (ICF) in Bucharest
On 17th October 2017, Mr Nikos Lambridis, Head MBA student Coach for Career and Professional Development and Organizational Behaviour Module Leader at our Executive MBA programme participated as keynote speaker in the Annual Conference of the International Coach Federation (ICF) in Bucharest. In the frame of the conference themed 'Leading Into The Coaching Future’, Mr Lambridis delivered an insightful and particularly motivating presentation entitled 'Your Insights can empower your future’. Mr. Lambridis joined a group of professional coaches, inspirational speakers and leaders that offered rich and practical perspectives meant to grow participants personally and professionally. The conference of the International Coach Federation (ICF) is designed for professional coaches, leaders, managers and entrepreneurs, HR Managers or HR Specialists, internal & external coaches and executives and aims at drawing valuable insights on the power and value of professional coaching as a mean to support the flow of leadership in individuals, teams, organisations and society.

The Director of the International Faculty Career & Enterprise Centre participates in EU Programme, iStart
The Director of Career, Employability and Enterprise Centre, Mr Vasilis Tsoulis, represented the International Faculty CITY College and its research centre, SEERC (South Eastern European Research Center), at the European Programme “iStart”, for its second Training Academy in Coimbra, Portugal. “iStart” partners are Yasar University, Incubator Como Next, University of Coimbra, Pedro Nunes Institute, the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) and SEERC. The second Training Academy lasted a week and consisted of two different sets of activities as well as the iStart Dissemination / Multiplier Event. The first action was the training of 30 students on the operations and functions of Start-Ups. The second part was the internal meeting of partners, in order to evaluate the progress of the programme as well as the coordination of future actions. The training action included students from multiple, diverse backgrounds from the Coimbra University concluding with teams with participants from totally different backgrounds - a mix that proved particularly interesting. A very experienced business consultant was invited as a trainer and supervisor during the whole week of the training. The programme partner participants acted as coaches and mentors. In the same context, the teams had to find an idea and by following the lead and advice of their trainers, to come up with a business plan. More precisely they followed all actual steps included in the “real life” planning of a new idea, like market research, market testing and market validation. Finally, after special sessions on how to structure their business plan and their pitch, the training week came to an end with the students pitching their work to a panel of entrepreneurs in a competition. The whole programme was very successful. The next academy will take place in Italy, Como, on May 2018 and the last one is planned for the autumn months of 2018 in Yasar University, Turkey.

Guest lecture and Presentations in Summer School on Migration and Refugee Security Challenges in Ohrid, FYROM
Dr Alexandra Prodromidou, Lecturer in the Business Administration and Economics Department and Mr Erigon Kastrati, postgraduate student attending the MSc in Advanced Software Engineering at the Department of Computer Science, took part in the summer school titled: ‘Coping with Common Security Challenges from the Migrant and Refuge Crisis – Challenges for the Region and Europe’. The Summer School was organised by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung-Skopje and the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies in Belgium and took place in Ohrid, FYROM between September 29th and October 1st 2017. Dr Prodromidou gave a presentation on the ‘Political and Economic Stability in Greece and Refugee Crisis Management’, and coordinated a student workshop on the ‘Political and Economic Stability in the Region as Precondition for More Efficient Crisis Management and More Successful Coping with Common Security Challenges’. Mr Erigon Kastrati presented on the results of the student workshop on the ‘Political and Economic Stability of in the Region as Precondition for More Efficient Crisis Management and More Successful Coping with Common Security Challenges’.

Guest Lecture on Fake News for business students
Dr Panagiotis Paschalidis (PhD, Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle) delivered a guest lecture on ‘The Global Phenomenon of Fake News’ on November 10th 2017 inside the framework of the Business Administration and Economics Department module in International Politics. The successful lecture focused on current issues related to Fake News including definitions of 'post-factual' and 'alternative data' information and theories analyzing the phenomenon. Dr Paschalidis is a Research Fellow at the South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP since 2015 and a visiting lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki.

Guest Lecture by the Sales Director of Makedonia Palace on ‘Re-Making Makedonia Palace Hotel’ in Thessaloniki
A very interesting guest lecture took place on 20 November 2017 by Ms. Eva Saringala who was invited guest speaker by the Business Administration and Economics Department to deliver a lecture on ‘Re-making Makedonia Palace Hotel’. During her presentation Ms Saringala introduced the remake of Makedconia Palace – a landmark hotel of Thessaloniki – explaining the marketing strategy and all activities involved. As an experienced executive who has worked in top hotels in the UK, Ms Saringala brought valuable insights in the classroom for our business students. The guest lecture took place in the frame of the unit ‘Introduction to Marketing’. Guest lecturers bring outside knowledge and expertise in the classroom and expose students to new perspectives. Through guest lectures our students have the opportunity to meet top executives from the industry who share their experience and help students get a feel of the real business world.

Professor Ana Vivas teaches psychology students in Sheffield
The Head of the Psychology Department of the International Faculty CITY College, Professor Ana Vivas, was invited to the University of Sheffield, UK to teach first year psychology students, as part of the module ‘Research at The University of Sheffield’. Prof. Vivas presented the research on Bilingualism conducted at the International Faculty Psychology Department. During her visit to our brother Psychology Department in Sheffield, Professor Vivas also discussed with colleagues at Sheffield about ongoing research collaborations between the two departments.
