The Boris Trajkovski Scholarship Award Ceremony 2015 in Skopje
On the first week of October 2015, the twenty Boris Trajkovski scholarship recipients were awarded their MBA scholarship during the Award Ceremony held in Skopje by Dr Gjorgje Ivanov, the President of the country. It is the sixth consecutive year for the Boris Trajkovksi Scholarships to be offered and provide the opportunity to scholars to study for the University of Sheffield Executive MBA degree offered by the University’s International Faculty CITY College in Thessaloniki. The ceremony took place at Villa Vodno, the presidential house, in Skopje with Mr. Yannis Ververidis, Principal of the International Faculty and Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive MBA programme representing the University of Sheffield International Faculty as well as Mr. Spiro Ristovski, Deputy Minister of Education and Science. Offered since 1993, the Executive MBA programme has alumni who hold important management and governmental positions in the country. The Boris Trajkovski Scholarship is an initiative that started in 2001 - honouring the memory of the late President, Boris Trajkovski - and is continued and supported by the current President Dr Gjorge Ivanov. The scholarships are co-funded with bilateral agreement by the Government (Ministry of Education and Science) and the University of Sheffield International Faculty aiming at promoting executive education excellence and providing top managers of the country with the opportunity to obtain cost-free education from one of the world’s top universities, the University of Sheffield.

Business plan presentations by our MBA students in Bucharest
In September 2015, our first year MBA students in Bucharest had the opportunity to present their business plans before a distinguished panel of industry experts. The presentations took place at the Hilton Hotel and were aimed at persuading panelists to invest in their business idea. Comprised of Mr. Stelios Kehaghias, Lecturer at the Business Administration Department of The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College and out MBA graduates and entrepreneurs, Ms. Simona Basturescu, Mr Cristian Negruziu and Mr Bodo Gyorgy comprised the panel which was impressed by the professionalism and presentation skills of our students. Business plan presentations by our MBA students in Belgrade
MBA students of Cohort 22 in Belgrade had the opportunity to present their group business plans in front of a distinguished panel of industry experts on Saturday 10 October 2015. The panel comprised of Mr Marinos Vathis, CEO Vojvodjanska Banka (member of NBG group), Mr Carl Ford Jr., Managing Director Tailor&Made, a digital agency and Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis, Development Director of the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College. According to feedback from panel members the teams were very well-prepared and presented passionately fresh ideas from a variety of industries. Well done to all participants!

Our Executive MBA now in Sofia!
Sofia is the new destination for our Executive MBA programme. We are happy to announce that The University of Sheffield Executive MBA offered by the International Faculty will start running in Bulgaria from this academic year and on, making Sofia our fifth teaching location along with Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, and Kyiv. MBA Scholarships for 'Next Generation' competition winners in Bulgaria
Aiming at promoting continuing education at executive level, the International Faculty, CITY College, offered a series of scholarships for its Executive MBA programme to winners of the ‘Next Generation Manager Competition 2015’ that took place in Bulgaria. More than 60 young managers and entrepreneurs participated in this years ‘Next Generation’ competition - the majority coming from IT and finance - and competed against each other based on their CV and career achievements. Mr Stefan Tsanev, Operations Director at MentorMate, is the big winner of the seventh Next Generation competition, organised by “Capital” and “Karieri”. Mr Tsanev is leading the company’s team in Bulgaria and has greatly contributed to its expansion over the past few years. The winner received the “Next Generation Manager for 2015” award as well as a full (100%) scholarship for our Executive MBA programme offered in Thessaloniki. The competition’s runner-ups, Mr Vladimir Boyadzhiev, Managing Director of the digital agency Despark and Mr Vladimir Dzharkalov, owner of ‘Twisted Jiu Jitsu’ sports club, will be awarded partial (50%) scholarships for the EMBA programme. Dr Szamosi Receives Emerald Excellence Award as Outstanding Reviewer

Dr Nikolaidis and Prof. Ketikidis at the ‘Education, Innovation, Entrepreneurship’ Conference
The Conference the ‘Education, Innovation, Entrepreneurship’ took place successfully with Dr Dimitris Nikolaidis, Head of BAED participating as speaker and Prof. Panayiotis Ketikidis, Vice Principal of the International Faculty as coordinator of two panels. The event was organised by Alexander Innovation Zone S.A. and the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce and took place on 27 April 2015 at NOESIS Technological Museum. The conference brought together experts from the fields of innovation, education and business and offered an excellent opportunity for a productive public forum on the connection between education, innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr Nikolaidis participated in the panel ‘Connecting Education and Entrepreneurship’ and discussed the importance of building and maintaining strong links between educational institutions and the industry for mutual benefits. Dr Nikolaidis and Prof. Ketikidis communicated the International Faculty’s stance towards the relation of the two, to inform teaching and support experiential education with input from the business world as well as provide education outputs for the benefit of the industry. The event’s panels hosted representatives of local administration, business, educational institutions and concluded with interesting remarks from participants.

The Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki 2015
Educational, Busy and Fun! The Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki took place between 17-25 April 2015 with great success with all our 2nd year Executive MBA students from Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest and Kyiv participating. Like every year the study week was a mix of classes, seminars, company visit activities, networking, free time and exciting outings. The study week kicked off with students attending track units corresponding to the MBA specialization they have chosen, as well as an insightful lecture on social entrepreneurship delivered by Mr. Christian Vanizette, ASHOKA fellow and Co-Founder of Makesense.org based in Paris, as part of the ‘Meet the CEO’ feature of the MBA programme. Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship On Monday 20 April, MBA participants also attended a Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship delivered by Mr. Vanizette, and had the opportunity take part in a very interesting simulated case of social entrepreneurship in which they were asked to find solutions for real social problems. Neuromarketing demonstration On the same day, MBA students of the marketing track had the chance to participate in a very interesting neuromarketing demonstration performed in class by neuromarketing experts of the Research Agency, Net Value. The demonstration took place in the frame of ‘Brand Strategy’ unit, led by Dr Ana Cruz. Coaching Seminar During the Study Week MBA students also attended a very interesting Executive Coaching Seminar delivered by Mr. Nikos Lambridis, Senior Leadership Coach with significant experience in career coaching and professional development, and also a BAED Adjunct Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Leadership module of the MBA programme. The seminar took place on Tuesday, 21 April and gave our MBA students guidelines on how to coach their workforce effectively by focusing on their self-development first. More about the Coaching Programme of our MBA. Boat cruise in Thermaikos Gulf The boat trip in Thermaikos Gulf was a pleasant break for our MBA students. Our students enjoyed a calm boat trip with the beautiful city view of Thessaloniki from the sea. They had the opportunity to admire the city from a different angle along with a pint of beer or a glass of wine and good company. 7th International Strategic People Management Workshop This year the 7th International Strategic People Management Workshop took place in the frame of the MBA Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki and the ‘Meet the CEO’ feature of out Executive MBA. On 22 April 2015 the Laboratory for Strategic People Management of our Business Department successfully organised the Workshop entitled ‘MY JOURNEY to the …TOP. Lessons Learned and Futures to be Written’. The event was endorsed by our Executive Development Institute (EDI) and well attended by our MBA students. More about the event. Company visits During the Annual Study Week 2015 in Thessaloniki our MBA students following the healthcare track of the Executive MBA programme visited ‘AROGI’ rehabilitation centre as part of the unit ‘Healthcare Systems Policy and Economics’, escorted by lecturers Dr Janet Harris and Dr Andrew Lee and the Director of the MBA programme, Mr George Efstathiadis. More about the company visit at ‘Arogi’. Moreover, students following the logistics specialisation of the MBA visited the port of Thessaloniki in the frame of unit ‘Global Supply Chain Management’. Escorted by Dr Aris Matopoulos the unit leader, students attended a very interesting presentation by Dr Dimitrios Makris, Sea Transport & Port Operations Specialist and Head of Strategic Planning from Marketing & Sales Department of Thessaloniki Port Authority who talked to the students about port’s organisation, services and trends. Once again the MBA Study Week in Thessaloniki was a true networking opportunity for our students from Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest and Kyiv who spent a full week together, exchanged ideas and practices, participated in interesting activities, saw in practice the programme’s holistic approach and had lots of fun and enjoyed the city. Neuromarketing demonstration for our MBA students
Your brain on marketing! Our Executive MBA students of the marketing track had the chance to participate in a very interesting neuromarketing demonstration performed in class by neuromarketing experts during the Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki. The demonstration took place by the Research Agency, Net Value. Our students had the opportunity to witness live how brain waves are measured with EEG (encephalogram) for marketing purposes and through the presentation of case studies discussed in depth many issues concerning neuromarketing in practice. Everyone involved was very excited about the demonstration and all agreed that neuromarketing is here to stay. Dr Ana Cruz and Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis were particularly happy to see such enthusiastic reactions in their students’ faces... and in their brains! The demonstration took place in the frame of ‘Brand Strategy’ unit, led by Dr Ana Cruz.
