Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis delivered a successful seminar in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Dr Dimitriadis, lecturer at the Executive MBA programme and representative of the The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College for Serbia, B&H and Montenegro delivered a very insightful and innovative seminar in Banja Luka on 21st May. The seminar was organized in cooperation of the International Faculty's country office and the local Chamber of Commerce and it was titled: “The Human Brain: Marketing’s New Frontier”. We are very pleased that the seminar attracted a large number of participants who joined this cutting edge academic experience. Moreover, it is very promising that such actions and initiatives are organized and supported by the country's official bodies in cooperation with our University. After all education is the key to the future, a future that is built conjointly with our students, our academic staff, government and industry sectors.

MBA Alumna Ms Ramona Pergel receives the award for the most competitive young manager
Ramona Pergel, Board Member and Deputy General Manager of EON Romania, part of German utility E.ON Group, was awarded by “Business Magazin” the prize for the most competitive young manager involved in the business environment in Romania, at a celebration organized on Tuesday 20th of May in Bucharest. Ramona Pergel is one of the ten prize-winners that were selected from the 100 managers from Romania presented in the 9th edition of the catalogue ”100 Young Top Managers”. All these managers are professionals under 40 years old who built successful careers in corporations or entrepreneurships and have proven the capability to obtain outstanding performances in the fields where they work. “In the future I want to continue to work and grow with a team of wonderful people, as my current colleagues are, from whom I can learn and to whom I can share my experience”, stated Ramona Pergel for the journalists of Business Magazin. The distinction was awarded at the Top Young Managers Gala, where over 300 representatives of the Romanian business environment were present.

Annual MBA Study Week in Thessaloniki, 2014
More than 140 2nd Year Executive MBA students from across the South-East and Eastern Europe, attended the Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki, 4 - 12 April 2014. The study week is a unique opportunity for Executive MBA students from all locations where the Executive MBA is delivered, to meet at the main campus of the International Faculty in Thessaloniki. The study week includes a variety of activities, attendance to modules of the MBA programme, participation in a number of seminars and social events. Furthermore it strengthens the contacts among the students and the academia. MBA students get the opportunity to attend two Study Weeks during their studies, one in Thessaloniki, Greece and another week in Sheffield, UK. MBA Alumnus Dr George Haralabus was the project leader of installing a CTBTO hydroacoustic station in Chile
Our MBA alumnus Dr. Georgios Haralabus who is the Project Manager in Hydroacoutics at CTBTO/IMS/ED (the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization) in Vienna was leading the project of installing a CTBTO hydroacoustic station in Chile, South America. MBA scholarship for the best leader in Romania, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania
The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College, offered a 50% MBA scholarship to Mr Mugur Isarescu, Governor of the National Bank of Romania, at the awarding of the Prize of ‘Best Leader’ which he received at the Cariere Magazine Gala. The event took place in Bucharest, 5 December 2013. Our Country Manager in Romania, Ms. Alina Vasile, gave the prize of ‘Best Leader in Romania’ and offered the MBA scholarship to Mr Mihai Mititelu, Head of Training and Development of the National Bank, who represented Mr Isarescu at the ceremony since he wasn’t able to attend. Celebrating its 10 years, Cariere magazine offered a series of prizes (eg. For the best entrepreneur, best general manager, best coach, best leader in Romania etc.) based on readers’ vote, in order to honour prominent, successful and influential personalities from the country. Our MBA programme has been running successfully in Bucharest since 2006 attracting high-profile managers and professionals from the country. We are happy that Mr Isarescu (or another representative from the management team of the National Bank of Romania) will be joining our programme and wish him best success in him future endeavours.

The Boris Trajkovski Scholarship Award Ceremony 2013 in Skopje
On 6th December 2013, Dr Gjorge Ivanov, the President of the country, held the Boris Trajkovski Scholarship Award Ceremony for the twenty scholarship recipients who will have the opportunity to study for the University of Sheffield Executive MBA degree offered by the University’s International Faculty CITY College in Thessaloniki. The ceremony took place at Villa Vodno, the presidential house, in Skopje with Mr. Yannis Ververidis, Principal of the International Faculty and Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive MBA programme representing the University of Sheffield International Faculty as well as Mr. Spiro Ristovski, Minister of Education and Science. Students have already attended the first MBA weekend classes and expressed their satisfaction from the programme. The President said “With the Boris Trajkovski scholarship programme we are happy to provide a great opportunity to applicants to upgrade their talent, knowledge and skills at one prestigious university, the University of Sheffield, by attending the Executive MBA programme offered by the University’s International Faculty CITY College, in Thessaloniki”. Offered since 1993, the Executive MBA programme has alumni who hold important management and governmental positions in the country. The Boris Trajkovski Scholarship is an initiative of the late President, Boris Trajkovski, that started in 2001 and which is continued and supported by the current President Dr Gjorge Ivanov. The scholarships are co-funded by the Government (Ministry of Education and Science) and the University of Sheffield aiming at promoting executive education and providing top managers with the opportunity to obtain cost-free education from a top British University that is ranked among the best universities in the world.

Executive MBA Induction in Kyiv
The Induction for our Executive MBA programme in Kyiv took place on 21-22 November 2013 in House of Pashkov for students of Cohort 21. Dr. Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the programme and Dr. Nikos Dimitriadis, Lecturer at the programme, welcomed all students and led the induction sessions focusing on the main attributes and structure of the programme. Also, our MBA alumna, Ms. Irina Rubis, Director of Ekonomika Communication Hub, delivered a very inspirational talk sharing her MBA experience with new students noting all skills and knowledge that she gained during her MBA studies and how much the programme helped her in her career. The Induction has been designed to provide a gateway to the MBA programme and prepare students for their studies. The MBA Induction in Kyiv was followed by the first weekend of classes during which students attended the first unit on the MBA course on 'Developing Market Presence'. Like previous years, middle and top management managers and professionals from different industry sectors, primarily from Ukraine, are attending the programme that successfully runs in Kyiv since 2010.

Executive MBA Induction Day in Belgrade
The Induction Day for our Executive MBA programme in Belgrade took place on 7-8 November 2013 in Hotel Zira for students of Cohort 21. Dr. Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the programme, and Dr. Nikos Dimitriadis, Lecturer at the programme, welcomed all students and led the induction sessions. Also, our MBA alumna, Ms. Sanja Milakovic Kolundzija shared her MBA experience with new students noting how much the programme helped her in her career. The students comprising Cohort 21 come from various industry sectors such as production, distribution, pharmaceuticals, NGOs, banking, telecommunication, advanced technologies, etc. Participants left the Induction with a common feeling that the programme is far more demanding and challenging than they expected. This is ninth year our Executive MBA programme runs successfully in Belgrade. Like previous years, middle and top management managers and professionals from different industry sectors, primarily from Romania but other countries too, are attending the programme that successfully runs in Bucharest since 2006.

Executive MBA Induction 2013 in Bucharest
The 14th of November 2013 saw the Induction Day for our Executive MBA in Bucharest that marked the beginning of academic year 2013-14. Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the programme, Dr. Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the programme and Dr. Alexandros Psychogios, Senior Lecturer and Ms. Alina Vasile, Country Manager, welcomed the students and provided useful information about the Executive MBA. Also our alumna Ms. Ramona Pergel shared with the newcomers her EMBA experience. The evening’s highlight was the particularly insightful speech delivered by British Ambassador of Romania, Mr. Martin Harris, who attended the event as special guest of the Executive MBA Induction Day. Like previous years, middle and top management managers and professionals from different industry sectors, primarily from Romania but other countries too, are attending the programme that successfully runs in Bucharest since 2006. The Executive MBA induction day in Bucharest, in Antena 3 channel. In the frame of the Induction Day the students in Bucharest participated in the 'People Building Exercise'. The exercise worked as the perfect icebreaker for MBA participants and helped them build a sense of team and teamwork.
