Official Launch of the Executive MBA in Baku, Azerbaijan
The official launch of the Executive MBA in Baku was organized by the University of Sheffield International Faculty CITY College and took place with great success on Tuesday, 12th June 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Baku. Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive MBA programme, opened the event and warmly welcomed all guests. The Ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Nicolaos D. Kanellos, the Country Director of British Council, Azerbaijan, Ms. Elizabeth White and representative of Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan honored the event with their presence and addressed a short welcome. Dr Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the Executive MBA programme also represented the International Faculty at the launching event welcoming the guests and talked about The Executive MBA Learning Experience. The press conference followed the presentations while the event concluded with a short reception. The event was well-attended by officials and representatives of the civil and business society as well as the media. The University of Sheffield Executive MBA will start running in Baku in November 2018, adding Azerbaijan as its 8th destination across South East and Eastern Europe, a well as the Caucasus region. The University of Sheffield, ranked no 75th best University in the World and its International Faculty aspire for this development to prove to be a very important contribution for the executive education in the country of Azerbaijan and to endorse the international character of the Executive MBA programme. Dr Dimitriadis delivers successful seminar on digital culture in Belgrade
Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis, Lecturer at our Executive MBA programme, delivered another successful seminar, in Belgrade this time, on ‘Digital Culture: The Missing Link in Digital Transformation?’. The event took place on 1 June 2018 in Belgrade. Dr Dimitriadis focused his presentation on the ‘digital transformation’ that is a main buzzword in business for the last few years. “Businesses, confused as ever, have been agonising about embracing digital technologies to serve customers better than competition. Related buzzwords like millennials and disruption made the whole situation even worse. Due to many unsuccessful projects in Digital Transformation, the focus in 2017 has shifted from Transformation itself to Digital Culture”, he said. Dr Dimitriadis, used neuroscience, business history and prediction theory to explain the situation and suggested suggest the best ways to move forward. Participants found the seminar particularly enlightening and commented positively on Dr Dimitriadis’ presentation skills.

Mr. Liassides delivers module on Marketing Communications in Kyiv
On 20 May 2018, Mr. Chris Liassides, Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies and Senior Lecturer at the International Faculty CITY College successfully delivered the third module of the Programme for Management Development that runs in collaboration with the European Business Association (EBA) in Kyiv. Mr. Liassides discussed the topic of Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) which is vital for any business or organization in today’s corporate world and is directly linked to operational efficiency. During the module he addressed issues relating to IMC strategies and techniques that all contemporary marketers should adopt. As he explained to participants IMC is a simple concept which ensures that all forms of communications and messages are carefully linked together whilst ensuring the efforts of every stakeholder are aligned to the changing requirements within any market place. IMC solidifies communications around customers and helps them move through the various stages of the buying process. Participants found the IMC module particularly insightful and had the opportunity to discuss with Mr. Liassides the effects that a well-executed IMC plan can have in a company. The ‘Programme for Management Development’ will be completed with 6 modules. The programme aims at equipping professionals with skills and knowledge, which are required for meeting companies’ strategic objectives; understanding business as an integrated system in the interrelationship of organizational, financial, marketing decisions aimed at increasing business competitiveness.

Inspiring Seminar on Leadership by Prof. Psychogios in Bucharest
The International Faculty CITY College organised a very successful business seminar on leadership delivered by Professor Alexandros Psychogios, Lecturer at our Executive MBA programme and Professor of International HRM at Birmingham City University, Birmingham City Business School. The event took place 17 May 2018 at the Hilton Hotel Entitled ‘Brain Adaptive Leadership: Boost your leading and influencing capabilities’ the seminar was about understanding and developing new aspects of leadership in modern organisations. More specifically, with his presentation Prof Psychogios this seminar aimed to developing understanding of the various issues and practices that directly relate to the human behaviour in organisations. With references to Neuroscience, Behavioural science and modern Leadership approaches, the speaker explained that leadership is a balance between meeting needs for organisational integration and adapting to the internal and external contexts. Participants had the opportunity to become acquainted with issues such as understanding leadership realities and implications, the perspective of Neuroscience and Behavioural Science as well as the brain adaptive leadership approach. The event was well attended by managers, entrepreneurs and business professionals who had the opportunity to explore new business topics and practices and gain knowledge that can help in the creation of inspiring managers. The seminar was organised in the context of the Executive MBA programme delivered by the University of Sheffield International Faculty in Bucharest.

Second unit of the Programme for Management Development by Mr Lambridis in Kyiv
On 22 April 2018 the second unit of the recently launched Programme for Management Development was successfully delivered to our new group of students by Mr. Nikos Lambridis, Head MBA student Coach for Career and Professional Development at our Executive MBA programme. The programme is run by the University of Sheffield International Faculty for the for the European Business Association (EBA) members jointly with ΕΒΑ. In his dynamic presentation οn Authentic Leadership, Mr Lambridis discussed one of the challenges of our times for authentic leaders saying that they need to develop followers in a manner that utilises our knowledge of mirror neurons, including acting as a mentor, being visible as a role model and coach. At the same time they need to use salient visual, auditory and written information to communicate expectations and vision. He also went on to outline the potential contribution of Neuroleadership to increased insight and understanding of authentic leadership, including the future development of leaders as to greater authenticity and self-awareness. Participants found the second unit particularly interesting and engaging. The ‘Programme for Management Development’ will be completed with 6 modules. Executive MBA Annual Study Week 2018 in Thessaloniki
During 14-21 April 2018 we welcomed at our main campus in Thessaloniki all our 2nd year Executive MBA students from the six cities (Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia, Kyiv, Yerevan) who participated in this year’s amazing MBA Study Week. As always, the study week comprised classes, seminars, lots of networking, guest lectures, free time and exciting outings. Specialised Units The study week kicked off with students attending the first track units of the MBA specialization they have chosen and gaining insights in the one of the six (6) specialized areas of the MBA (i.e. General Management, Marketing, Finance, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Management, Human Resources Management). 10th International Strategic People Management Workshop The 10th International Strategic People Management Workshop took place within the MBA Annual Study Week in Thessaloniki. On 18 April 2018 the Laboratory for Strategic People Management successfully organized the Workshop entitled 'Promoting Sustainable Performance through People’. Prior to the workshop students undertook an analysis of their current company and were presented with a diagnostic of their company which then formed the basis for the workshop run by Dr. Szamosi and Dr. Gkikas. This is part of an ongoing series of activities related to SMEs and people management in the region. Risk Management Workshop ‘Risk Management: A way to avoid Crisis Management and Management of Losses’ was the title of the workshop led by Mr Athanasios Fourtounas, Economist and Director of Logistics in JLSG NATO (Italy), on 17th of April 2018 within the frame of the MBA Annual Study Week. He was also a member of the judge panel at the MBA student pitch session. Boat cruise in Thermaikos Gulf The Annual Study Week is scheduled to combines work and pleasure. The scheduled boat trip in Thermaikos Gulf was a pleasant escape from classes for our MBA students. Our students enjoyed the beautiful city view of Thessaloniki while sailing. They had the opportunity to admire the city and the warm weather from a different angle along with a pint of beer or a glass of wine. Once again the MBA Study Week in Thessaloniki was a true networking and learning opportunity for our students from Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia, Kyiv and Yerevan, who spent a full week together, exchanged best practices, participated in interesting activities, experienced the programme’s holistic approach and had lots of fun while enjoying the charming city of Thessaloniki. Risk Management Workshop at the MBA Study Week in Thessaloniki
‘Risk Management: A way to avoid Crisis Management and Management of Losses’ was the title of the workshop led by Mr Athanasios Fourtounas, Economist and Director of Logistics in JLSG NATO (Italy), on 17th of April 2018 within the frame of the MBA Annual Study Week. During our workshop, participants were familiarised with all the processes of Risk Management during a project through a detailed and realistic scenario. Students first analysed their Project Charter and were then separated into teams to identify the stakeholders of the Project. The next step was the composition of a Risk Management Plan which was followed by the identification of opportunities and threats of the project. Then, MBA participants discussed the analysis of the identified risks through Qualitative methods so as to prioritize Opportunities and Threats. The workshop came to an end with the identification of risk responses and suggested ways monitoring our risks during the execution of the project. The smiling faces at the end of the workshop were the evidence that objective was accomplished and knowledge was gained! Mr Fourtounas commented: “The current business climate is increasingly uncertain and companies need their employees to be competent, efficient and knowledgeable when it comes to managing Opportunities and Threats. Every employee needs to ensure he or she is up-to-date on international standards and best practice required to effectively mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities to save company’s time and money.”

Launch of new Programme for Management Development for EBA members in Kyiv
The 31st of March 2018 marked the successful launch of a new Programme for Management Development with a new group of EBA members in Kyiv. The first module on “HR Management & Organisational Behaviour’ was delivered by Dr Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of the Executive MBA programme offered by the International Faculty CITY College. During this first module Dr Szamosi outlined a number of different key issues that can energise and motivate people to be become the best version of themselves and do their best. “Every organisation says that its most important resource is its people! Yet, how we manage these resources, what makes them effective and what they are looking for is very often misunderstood.” commented Dr Szamosi and continued: “What experience has taught us is that creating a motivated workforce goes well beyond simple payment of wages. And, today, this is being even more complicated by the Millennials (Generation Y) joining our companies.” Dr Szamosi shared with participants inspiring insights to help them adopt a new way of thinking towards HR and put into effect new practices. The goal of this second Programme for Management Development is to equip professional with skills and knowledge, which are required for meeting company’s strategic objectives; understanding business as an integrated system in the interrelationship of organisational, financial, marketing decisions aimed at increasing business competitiveness.

Dr Szamosi delivers Training on ‘Getting the Top to Listen’
‘Getting the Top to Listen’ was the title of the particularly interesting Training Seminar delivered in Kyiv by Dr Leslie Szamosi, Academic Director of our Executive MBA programme. The seminar was addressed to members of the European Business Association (EBA) and took place on 30 March 2018 at the Management Development Centre of EBA. Dr Szamosi’s presentation was focused on guiding participants to get their voice heard and their ideas communicated to members of a company’s or organization’s top management. "The idea may be great, but if it’s not communicated well, it won’t get any traction. Building buy-in ahead of time, finding the right medium for your message and impressing with unique visuals are the main principles that will help you persuade the top to get into your idea!", said Dr. Szamosi. During the training participants were asked to build a Business Case. This experiential activity undoubtedly helped participants learn how to address the management's concerns and provide comprehensive content. The training was successful and presented a very innovative topic as reported by participating managers. Graduation Ceremony of the Participants of the Programme for Management Development in Kyiv
Congratulations to the first graduates of Programme for Management Development that was successfully completed in Kyiv! The programme concluded with the the delivery of the sixth unit of the programme that was followed by the Graduation Ceremony where all participants celebrated their achievement together with their lecturers and staff from the International Faculty CITY College and the European Business Association (EBA). The programme run in cooperation with our educational partner in Kyiv, EBA, and was completed in six months. The programme was taught by Dr Nikolaos Dimitriadis, Dr Alexandros Psychogios, Dr Leslie Szamosi and Mr Nikos Lambridis who brought their valuable knowledge and insights in the classroom. As reported by the participants they spent a great time together studying and networking.
