Pan-European Executive MBA: Study Trip 2024 in Thessaloniki

Managers and professionals participating in our Pan-European Dual Degree Executive MBA programme, delivered by CITY College Europe Campus across eight countries in the region, enjoyed a study week in Thessaloniki, Greece filled with joint classes, networking opportunities, and engaging activities during the annual Study Trip at our main campus in Thessaloniki. The Pan-European Executive MBA is a unique dual degree MBA programme jointly offered by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus and the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg. Graduates are awarded two MBA degrees by two leading universities, the University of York (UK) and the University of Strasbourg (France). An exceptional opportunity for genuine international educational experience and professional networking. The 13th edition of the Strategic People Management Workshop was successfully held within the context of the Study Trip. An engaging MBA Study Trip took place successfully at our main campus in Thessaloniki from 6th to 13th April 2024, with the second-year MBA students participating in the Pan-European Executive MBA programme. An exciting MBA Study MBA participants attending the programme in all eight cities (Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia, Kyiv, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Baku) where it is offered joined the Study Trip in Thessalonki and enjoyed a mix of classes, seminars, lots of networking, leisure time and exciting outings. Specialised MBA Modules for specialised knowledge in management areas The study trip kicked off with students attending the first track units of the MBA specialisation they have chosen and gaining insights in the one of the six (6) specialised areas of the MBA (i.e. General Management, Marketing, Finance, Logistics, Healthcare Management, Human Resources Management). MBA participants not only deepened their knowledge in their field but also had the opportunity to network with managers and professionals from other countries working in the same industry sector. 13th Strategic People Management Workshop Themed ‘Evolutionary Leadership Theory: Biological & Neuroscientific Perspectives on Leadership Practice’, the 13th Strategic People Management Workshop took place on the 10th of April as part of the MBA Study Week in Thessaloniki. The event was co-organised by Prof. Leslie T. Szamosi, Director of our Pan-European Executive MBA and Prof. Alexandros Psychogios, Professor of HRM & OB, Loughborough University, while keynore speakers, Prof Psychogios and Dr Manousos Klados, Associate Professor at our Psychology Department, shared their insights on the topic. Risk Management Seminar by Mr. Fourtounas As part of the Study Trip in Thessaloniki, MBA students attended an enlightening Management Development Seminar on 'Project Risk Management' by Mr. Athanasios Fourtounas, Economist and Director of Logistics in JLSG NATO (Italy). Boat trip in Thermaikos Gulf The boat trip in Thermaikos Gulf has become a tradition of the Thessaloniki MBA Study Trip. Our MBA students enjoyed a delightful break from classes as they marveled at the city's stunning views while sailing. MBA students he MBA students made the most of their time in Thessaloniki, engaging in joint classes and activities. Exciting MBA Study Trip 2023 at the University of York in the UK

Managers and professionals, attending our Pan-European Executive MBA delivered in 8 countries across the region participated in joint classes, networking and activities at the University of York(UK)!   The Study Trip is part of the Pan-European Executive MBA programme, a dual degree programme leading to two degrees: one from the University of York and one from the University of Strasbourg.   A week at the University of Strasbourg full of joint classes, networking and social activities. Managers and business professionals attending our dual-degree Pan-European Executive MBA in 8 countries travelled to York to attend the Annual Study Trip at the University of York. MBA students – divided in two groups and escorted by Mr George Efstathiadis and Prof Leslie Szamosi - were absolutely excited by the learning experience! The Lord Mayor of York, the first citizen of the city, Reverend Councillor Chris Cullwick, The Right Honorable Lord Mayor of York, and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Joy Cullwick welcomed our students to York and had lunch with them. MBA Students - Group 1 MBA Students - Group 2 During the study week MBA students attended the Corporate Financial Management module, taught by Prof John Ashton, Dr Jairaj Gupta and Dr Agnieszka Trzeciakiewicz,  as well as a 1-day Negotiations Skills seminar by Dr Tom Hutcheson. The trip to York involved various exciting outings and activities such as a Ghost walk in York city center organised specifically for our students, a visit to a local Brewery and other social events that took place in parallel to joint classes! The School of Business and Society hosted our MBA students and the study week programme activities were organised by the staff of the School of Business and Society led by Prof Neil Lunt and his team. Pan-European Executive MBA: Study Trip 2023 in Thessaloniki

Managers and professionals, attending our Pan-European Executive MBA delivered by CITY College Europe Campus in 8 countries across the region, enjoyed a week full of joint classes, networking and activities at our main campus in Thessaloniki An amazing opportunity for international educational experience and professional networking MBA students gained specialised knowledge in their chosen management area by attending specialisation units The 12th Strategic People Management Workshop took place in the context of the Study Trip An exciting MBA Study Trip took place successfully at our main campus in Thessaloniki, 31 March-8 April 2023, with its second year MBA students attending the Pan-European Executive MBA in all eight cities (Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia, Kyiv, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Baku) participating and attending joint classes at CITY College, University of York Europe Campus. As always, the study trip comprised classes, seminars, lots of networking, free time and exciting outings. The Dark Triad and Me: Exploring leadership from a different angle and its impact on the workplace’, the 12th Strategic People Management Workshop took place on the 5th of April within the MBA Study Trip in Thessaloniki. The event was co-organised by Prof. Leslie T. Szamosi, Director of our Pan-European Executive MBA and Prof. Alexandros Psychogios, Professor of Leadership and International HRM at Birmingham City University while it featured distinguished speakers namely, Prof. Malcolm Higgs, Professor of Leadership and Strategy at Birmingham City University and Dr. Jon Gruda, Assistant Professor in Organizational Behaviour at Maynooth University, who shared their insights on the topic with our students. Successful event on ESG - Environment Society and Governance CITY College and TCCI

The online event on 'ESG - Environment Society and Governance' that was organised by CITY College University of York Europe Campus and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) was successfully held on Monday, 13 March 2023. The event took place within the framework of the 'Certificate in ESG Management' programme offered by the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of CITY College. Mr. George Efstathiadis, Director of the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of CITY College and Mr. Emmanouil Vlachogiannis, 1st Vice President of TCCI opened the event and addressed a short welcome. The speaker of the event, Dr Paschalis Kastanas, Head of Sustainable Packaging at Nestle Greece, Mentor, Lean Early Management Philosophy and Coach, Circular Economy for Waste Framework EU Directive spoke in detail about ESG, a term that is now redefining the world of businesses. In his presentation he explained that the acronym ESG summarises the tripartite ‘Environment-Society-Governance and is related to a company's ability to present sustainable development, adopting strategies based on environmental, social and corporate governance criteria, according to modern ESG standards. Masterclass by Dr Serafini on Creating a future-ready leadership pipeline A strategic HRM approach at HR WEEK 2022

Monday 21 November 2022 the HR Week 2022 virtual conference (which CITY College, University of York Europe Campus is supporting as academic sponsor) kicked off and saw Dr Giovanni Oscar Serafini contributing insights on future-ready leadership. While this is a must for any organisation, the development of top talent is an ongoing challenge. Although staggering amounts are spent to improve the pipeline of future-ready leadership, still the return on training investment (ROI-Training) is rather poor. This masterclass reviewed the key reasons behind the frequent training failure to deliver real and lasting impact. These range from participant-related to the training program itself, and the work environment. Namely, research has identified social support (by the supervisor, colleagues, and subordinates) as being the most crucial determinant toward high motivation to transfer what learned in training sessions to the workplace. Furthermore, while HRM needs to offer a strategic solution by enabling a favorable context, succession planning and leadership development require also the commitment at the very top of organisations. This masterclass concluded by highlighting that, as companies with a future-ready workforce outperform their competitors, they require talented, future-ready leaders.

Executive MBA Annual Study Trip 2022 in Strasbourg: an exciting learning experience

Managers and professionals, attending our Pan-European Executive MBA delivered in 8 countries across the region participated in joint classes, networking and activities at the University of Strasbourg in France!   The Study Trip is part of the Pan-European Executive MBA programme, a dual degree programme leading to two degrees: one from the University of York and one from the University of Strasbourg.   A week at the University of Strasbourg full of joint classes, networking and social activities.   Joint classes taught by academics from the University of Strasbourg Our MBA students attending the Pan-European Executive MBA programme had the opportunity to enjoy an exciting Study Trip at the University of Strasbourg in France. The trip is an integral part of the Pan-European Executive MBA programme, a dual degree programme leading to two degrees, one from the University of York and one from the University of Strasbourg. Managers and business professionals from all eight cities where the programme is delivered (Thessaloniki, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia, Kyiv, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Baku) participated in the trip to attend joint classes. As always, the study trip comprised classes taught by academics from the University of Strasbourg, seminars, lots of networking, free time and exciting outings.   A warm welcome at the University of Strasbourg Dr. Claude Guittard, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg warmly welcomed our MBA students at the university. During the study trip MBA students attended the module ‘Open Collaboration Tools for European Business and Sustainability Society’ led by Dr Thierry Burger-Helmchen, Deputy Vice-President for Learning and Teaching at the University of Strasbourg and run by a team of 5 lecturers from the University of Strasbourg. The module included a computer simulation exercise besides a live case study.   Visit at the European Parliament Company Visit at a leading manufacturer of office furniture In the context of the Study Trip, students also had the opportunity to visit the European Parliament and directly experience the work of European Parliament, its role, functions and purpose. Additionally, a company visit took place at ‘Steelcase’, a leading manufacturer of office furniture. MBA students were given a site tour at the company’s facilities where they attended a very interesting workshop.
