An exciting guest lecture by successful start-up entrepreneurs, Toli and Christine Lerios
A very interesting and exciting guest talk by Mr. Tolis Lerios and his wife Christine was delivered at our main campus in Thessaloniki. CITY College students had the opportunity to hear first hand, about the experiences, the successes and the mishaps of Mr. and Mrs. Lerios, throughout their twenty year career as "serial entrepreneurs," with involvement in numerous IT companies, startups and projects in the U.S. and abroad. A long period of vivid Q and A followed the talk. The event, which was co-organized with SEERC and EPY (Greek Computers Society), was part of the Computer Science Professional Development Seminars, but it was also open to students from all departments and EPY members. The event was coorganised with EPY.

CITY College Europe Campus among the co-organisers of the 8th Technology Forum in Thessaloniki
CITY College, University of York Europe Campus was among the co-organisers of the 8th Technology Forum, a major technology event that took place successfully in Thessaloniki, 14 October 2021, in the frame of @Beyond 4.0 international exhibition. Dr Simos Veloudis, Research Director at the Computer Science Department of CITY College Europe Campus and Senior Researcher at our research centre, SEERC, coordinated successfully the digital health session of the event. The event was well-attended and featured distinguished speakers who shared their views and expertise on seminal contemporary topics. Among them were Apostolos “Toli” Lerios, Former Mentor, Serial Entrepreneur and Engineer and cofounder of Metanautix, Timos Sellis, Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology (Australia), Fellow ACM, IEEE Research Scientist at Facebook (USA), Dana Eleftheriadou, Head of Cities and Proximity Team, European Commission, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and many others. CITY College, University of York Europe Campus recognises the value of extroversion and is highly involved in events organised by different organisations and associations to further promote the link between academia and industry.

Representatives of CITY College Europe Campus at the the inauguration of Cisco's Center for Digital Transformation & Digital Skills in Thessaloniki
CITY College, University of York Europe Campus representatives, namely, Mr Yannis Ververidis, President and Principal, Dr Nikos Tsorakidis, Dean for External Engagement and New Developments of our Business Department and Dr Dimitris Dranidis, Head of the Computer Science Department attended the inauguration of Cisco's Center for Digital Transformation & Digital Skills in Thessaloniki, on Friday, 18 October 2021. Student-volunteers, Antonis Antoniadis from the Computer Science Department and Georgios Michaloudis from the Business Administration & Economics Department, also joined the event in order to promote ‘ALL-LINE’, a recently launched project run by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco. The project is coordinated by the Computer Science Department and aims at educating citizens and help them embrace new technologies and digital skills. CITY College was invited to the event as it officially supports as an educational institution the initiatives of Cisco through a MoU of collaboration which foresees cooperation in common research projects, relevant studies, development of innovative projects, creation of educational programmes and many more. The event was well-attended by business, industry and government representatives. Among others, present at the event were Mr Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Christos Dimas, Deputy Minister of Research & Innovation, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, Minister for Development and Investment, and Mr. Konstantinos Zervas, Mayor of Thessaloniki. We would like to warmly thank for the kind invite Mr. Nikos Lambrogiorgos, Senior Account Manager, Public Sector - Cisco Greece and coordinator of Cisco’s Digital Center and Mr. Antonis Tsiboukis, General Manager - Cisco Greece, Cyprus, Portugal and Malta.

Computer Science students at the Thessaloniki International Fair to support project that helps citizens embrace digital technologies
Student-volunteers joined the booth of the Municipality of Thessaloniki to present All-line project, a recently launched joint project by CITY College, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and the Digital Transformation & Digital Skills Center - Cisco The project is coordinated by the Computer Science Department of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus The project aims at enhancing citizens’ digital skills and competences by educating them in new technologies, that have proved to be so needed during COVID-19 pandemic Student-volunteers from the Computer Science Department joined the booth the Thessaloniki International Fair to help with the presentation and the promotion of ‘ALL-LINE’, a recently launched project run by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco. The project aims at educating citizens and help them embrace new technologies and digital skills. Dr Dimitris Dranidis, Head of the Computer Science Department also joined our student-volunteers at the Thessaloniki International Fair. The project’s scope is to familiarise with new technologies people of all ages (including vulnerable groups), who have insufficient digital competences, and help them develop and embrace digital skills. Students from all four academic departments of CITY College Europe Campus will participate as volunteers in this initiative. Student-volunteers will act as knowledge ambassadors and will teach citizens who will participate in the project the possibilities of the digital world. In the context of the project, CITY College Europe Campus is represented by its Computer Science Department that acts as project coordinator.

CITY College, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and the Digital Transformation & Digital Skills Center - Cisco launch a project to help citizens embrace digital technologies
The project is coordinated by the Computer Science Department of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus Student volunteers from all departments of CITY College will support the project with their knowledge and skills The project aims at enhancing citizens’ digital skills and competences by educating them in new technologies, that have proved to be so needed during COVID-19 pandemic The initiative is in line with CITY College’s public engagement philosophy aiming to give back to society by sharing knowledge and being in service. CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco recently launched a project aiming at educating citizens and help them embrace new technologies and digital skills. More specifically, under the name ‘ALL-LINE’, the project’s scope is to familiarize with new technologies people of all ages (including vulnerable groups), who have insufficient digital competences, and help them develop and embrace digital skills. The project will commence with the training of people in order to be able to access the digital services offered by the Municipality. Students from all four academic departments of CITY College Europe Campus have volunteered to participate in this initiative. Student-volunteers will act as knowledge ambassadors and will teach citizens who will participate in the project the possibilities of the digital world, beginning with familiarising the first participants with the digital services of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The basic aims of the project are the improvement of communication and accessibility, the facilitation of everyday life, the avoidance and the elimination of marginalisation and exclusion of individuals due to lack of technology knowledge and access. In the context of the project, CITY College Europe Campus is represented by its Computer Science Department that acts as project coordinator. The initiative will be presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair at the Municipality’s booth. CITY College, University of York Europe Campus is actively involved with our local and wider community and work closely with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, aiming at putting our knowledge, skills and resources at the service of the public. It has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) established by Cisco in Thessaloniki aiming at promoting digitalisation and the corresponding skills to the wider population.
