Computer Science students demonstrate the software applications developed as part of their Individual Project module
Final year undergraduate students from our Computer Science Department had the opportunity to demonstrate the software applications they developed as part of their Individual Project module. Our students presented the aim of their projects showcased their achievements and gained insightful feedback from attendees which included academic staff from the department, second-year students - who had the opportunity to see what they are expected to do in their next year of studies, as well as academic staff from the other Departments: Dr Fenia Mavrodi (Business Dept), Dr Aristea Kyriaki Ladas (Psychology Dept), Dr Zoi Tatsioka (Humanities), Dr Eirini Kelmali (Humanities). The audience also included a four-legged friend who enjoyed a lot of petting during the presentations! Congratulations to everyone involved!

Insightful Event on Breast Cancer Management by CITY College Psychology Department
The Psychology Department of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus organised a great event on ‘Breast Cancer: Manage and LIVE’, led by Dr Aristea Ladas, that took place on 24th November 2024 at our main campus in Thessaloniki. Attendees gained valuable knowledge about the disease from various perspectives, including medical, personal experiences, awareness campaigns, yoga and pilates, aesthetic treatment, and medical tattooing. The audience was deeply moved by cancer survivors who shared their inspiring stories with humour and strength. All speakers emphasised the significance of positive psychology in the healing process. We would like to express our gratitude to our exceptional speakers for their contribution to the event. Computer Science students attend Voxxed Days Thessaloniki Conference
Computer Science students, Edon Ramadani and Tringa Rexhepaj, were thrilled to attend Voxxed Days Thessaloniki 2023 Conference, a major event on software development, after winning two tickets generously offered to CITY College from the conference organizers. Throughout the event our students immersed themselves in a world of passionate developers, gaining insights into the latest trends, technologies, frameworks, and programming languages. As reported by our students the event was a mixture of learning and fun!

Digital Skills Workshop - CITY College students assist seniors in embracing new technologies
CITY College student-volunteers became tutors and helped members of Senior Citizens Centres (KAPI) familiarise themselves with new technologies. The workshop took place in the context of the ‘ALL-LINE’ project run by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco. CITY College student volunteers from our Computer Science Department participated in another Digital Skills Workshop and had the opportunity to become tutors of members of Senior Citizens Centres (KAPI) of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and assist them in learning digital skills and safe internet browsing. The workshop was conducted simultaneously in two physical locations that were connected digitally: the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco and the 1st Branch of KAPI Centres. The activity was facilitated by Dr Nikolaos Tsorakidis, Deputy Vice-President for External Engagement and Partnerships of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, Dr Ioanna Stamatopoulou, Head of the Computer Science Department and Mr. Agathoklis Vatzias, Operations Manager at theDigital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S). The workshop - which was part of a series of workshops that were launched earlier this year - took place in the context of the ‘ALL-LINE’ project run by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Center (DT&S) – Cisco. New digital app for tree adoption of the Municipality of Thessaloniki created by students of CITY College
An innovative digital tool developed by students of the Computer Science Department of CITY College We are delighted to introduce ‘PotiZo’ a new digital application of the Municipality of Thessaloniki for tree adoption that was developed by students of our Computer Science Department. With this innovative digital tool citizens of Thessaloniki will have the opportunity to adopt up to three trees in the city and water them regularly. The scope of this project is to promote citizen engagement in Thessaloniki as well as to cultivate the culture of volunteering and respect for public spaces. Dr Dimitris Dranidis said: "I want to thank all the contributors of the Municipality of Thessaloniki who were involved in the project for their support. And of course, I want to thank and congratulate the creators of the digital application, our students who worked systematically on the development of "PotiZO". Our students are systematically participating in digital projects for organizations”. “The scope of the "PotiZO" application is to engage citizens in the protection of the environment, especially in the cities, on the occasion of the inclusion of Thessaloniki in the mission of Climate Neutrality plan until 2030”, said Mr. Michael Koupkas, Deputy Mayor for E-Governance at the Municipality of Thessaloniki. “We want to raise awareness among the citizens of Thessaloniki, motivate them become volunteers and take care of a tree in front of their house or business so that it has receives care for its better and faster growth", said Mr Erotokritos Theotokatos, deputy Mayor of Environment at the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
