Marketing Seminar ‘From Guerilla to Gorilla’ by Dr Dimitriadis
Dr Nikos Dimitriadis, Lecturer at the Executive MBA of CITY College, delivered a very successful and insightful marketing seminar in Thessaloniki, on 3 November 2014. During the two-hour seminar entitled, “From Guerilla to Gorilla: Marketing rules we need to forget and some we need to remember” Dr Dimitriadis touched upon the latest developments in marketing, the challenges that marketing is facing through the rough times of crisis focusing on the need for marketers to change their mentality and practice. In his presentation Dr. Dimitriadis explained why marketers need to urgently abandon ‘common sense’ and embrace new and old practices in order to make marketing work.

STRATEGICA Academic International Conference 2014
2-3 October 2014, Bucharest Our Lecturers Dr Dimitrios Nikolaidis and Dr Anastasios Karamanos, as well as Mr Bakatselos and our student Ms Ioana Manussos participated in the STRATEGICA Academic International conference which took place in Bucharest on the 2-3 October 2014. The team of experts presented the following papers on the thematic subjects: Finance George Bakatselos and Dr Anastasios Karamanos presented the paper "Abnormal stock market returns to announcements of M&A banking deals in Greece 1996-2013" Marketing Dr. Dimitrios V. Nikolaidis and Ms Ioana Manussos presented the paper "The influence of Public Relations in nation branding: the case of Bucharest" The 2014 edition of the STRATEGICA international conference discussed the evolutions of the business environment in the context of new governments’ policies and international institutions’ measures after-crisis. It also explored the relevance of ethics, values and standards at individual, institutional and social levels in the world of finance and business, considering both a macro-level approach and a micro-level one. It was a great opportunity for interdisciplinary discussions and debates on the new business models arising, the new behaviors in management and the role of ethics and corporate social responsibility, by bringing together international experts, researchers and scholars. The conference is organized yearly by the College of Management from the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Romania (NUPSPA) in partnership with the National Bank of Romania. Seminar on ‘Concept and Project Evaluation Techniques’ by Dr Nikolaidis
Dr Dimitrios V. Nikolaidis, Head of the BAED and Senior Lecturer presented on the 11th of September to the GDG Playground the speech with title: Project Evaluation Techniques: “Designing a Product that Users Want: Concept & Project Evaluation Techniques” The attendees were very enthusiastic about the subject of the speech and praised the presentation and Dr. Nikolaidis. 2nd level BAED students company visit at TSOKANOS S.A.
How about a company visit where students are actually involved in real-life business situations and get rewarded? On 28 May, TSOKANOS S.A. offered this unique opportunity to 2nd level students, who were toured around the company's warehouse and were given a quick on-site training on the order picking process. The students were then divided into groups of five and were asked to deliver a complete order within maximum 10 minutes following a set of specific instructions. Milosheva Sandra, Taravanis Rafail, Elisseou Leonidas, Gjibexhi Drilon, Sarris Dimitrios and Stojanovski Igor comprised the winning team and received free-vouchers for a 2-day trip in a Balkan capital. A presentation on “Do we really need a website?” was also delivered, focusing on the need for improving the company’s website and e-commerce strategy. A competition analysis of local rivals was conducted while global leaders were taken as benchmarks. The students were then asked to devise a digital marketing and social media strategy. Gabriella Papadopoulou, Apostolos Dermentzopoulos and Daniel Filipovic came up with the best ideas. They also received free-vouchers for a 2-day trip in a Balkan capital, as well as internship opportunities at TSOKANOS S.A. TSOKANOS S.A. Company visit at Waterland
On 29 May, 1st year students visited Waterland, one of the largest water parks in Europe, in the context of the Principles of Management unit. Mr Dimitris Arampatzidis, an International Faculty alumnus, delivered an informative presentation about the operations, marketing strategy, pricing policy, and general strategic focus of the company. Following the presentation, students toured the premises.

Chick Fil A Seminar - SERVE Leadership Model
On 28 May, BAED students were exposed to the SERVE leadership model, which is an innovative management model that fits every sector and every country. The model was outlined by members of the management team of Chick Fil A Inc., the second largest quick service chicken restaurant chain in the US, with more than 1430 locations in 38 states and annual sales of more than $2.9 billion.

Company visit at Papadopoulos Biscuits
Special thank you to Papadopoulos’ Biscuits for hosting a factory visit for our students on 30 May. Insightful and engaging, a truly unique learning experience. Michael Mavroudis, Jr Brand Manager, (who flew in from Athens especially for our company visit) presented an insightful case study on the Caprice brand. During the visit, our final year Management and MA Marketing, Advertising and PR students provided marketing ideas to further build the brand and also tried the freshly baked biscuits. Learning outside the classroom has never been so tasty!!!

Company visit at ISOMAT
On Monday 5 May, 1st level English taught and 2nd level Greek taught students of the Business Administration and Economics Department had the opportunity to visit ISOMAT, one of the fastest developing manufacturers of building chemicals and pre-mixed mortars in the region of S.E. Europe. Following a presentation on “Principles of Marketing” delivered by Mrs Tziriti, Product Μanager, the students were toured around the company’s premises. With sales centres in the cities of Thessaloniki and Athens, and an extensive network of about 1500 points of sale, ISOMAT thoroughly covers the needs of the construction sector in Greece. Besides that, the company carries out international sales to more than 30 countries in Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Mr Chris Liassides delivered the seminar 'Understanding Consumers by studying Lifestyle' at the University of Bucharest
On the 8th of April the University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College and in cooperation with the Intact Foundation, Dan Voiculescu Foundation organized a successful "Open Master Class" with the title "Understanding Consumers by studying Lifestyle" by Mr Chris Liassides at the University of Bucharest. Mr Chris Liassides, Lecturer and Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies of the International Faculty presented issues such as the behaviour of buyers, their lifestyle, every day truths that affect the decision making and certain other facts which entrepreneurs and analysts should take into consideration in order to better understand consumers. Furthermore as we can see in the photos over 100 participants attended the two hour seminar. Finally after the seminar attendees received certificates of participation from TUoS International Faculty. Mr Chris Liassides delivered the seminar 'Understanding Consumers by studying Lifestyle' at Hilton Hotel Bucharest
More than 200 participants from the Marketing and Business fields attended the seminar by Mr Chris Liassides, Lecturer and Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies of the International Faculty at the Hilton Hotel on the 8th of April! The successful seminar was followed by a second session which offered insightful information about differentiating ourselves in the marketplace, the advantage of being a graduate of the University of Sheffield with a degree in MA in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations.
