Undergraduate business students to present paper at the ‘22nd Excellence in Services International Conference’
Congratulations to undergraduate students of our Business Administration & Economics Department, namely Valeria Liouta, Kelly Kelpetsidou and Katerina Martsiou, whose paper in Service Management Quality was accepted to be presented at the 22nd Excellence in Services International Conference" to be held in Thessaloniki, 29-30 August 2019. This is a remarkable achievement on behalf of our students since their paper was one of the few accepted papers submitted by undergraduate students. Most of the papers selected to be presented were from Masters and PhD students, indicating the level of difficulty and high standards of the conference. Our students are more than excited with their achievement and upcoming ceonference participation. “Who could have imagined that after 3-4 years of studying at CITY College, using countless articles from Scholar for our assignments, our work would be available in a platform for other students to use as a reference. It's a dream come true! said Valeria while Kelly commented: “I feel very proud and happy for our team because we have achieved to write a paper that stood out and present it in such a conference among Masters and PhD graduates! Hard work is definitely rewarded!” Finally Katerina added: “Considering the dedication we put into that research, it is so satisfactory that all this effort is rewarded with a publication opportunity. Insistence and hard work certainly bring amazing experiences!” Dr Vassilis Blessios, Lecturer in Marketing at the Business Administration & Ecnomics Department, who supervised the research paper commented on the students’ achievement: “I had the pleasure to supervise the Research Paper of Varvara Liouta, Kalliopi Kelpetsidou, and Aikaterini Martsiou, under the title "Application of the GAP Model of Service Quality: The Case of McDonalds in Thessaloniki, Greece". The paper was conducted in the framework of the 3rd Year Class "Managing Service Quality" at CITY COLLEGE - International Faculty of the University of Sheffield. The team did an extraordinary study, especially for Undergraduate level students, utilizing secondary research methods, reviewing all the latest scientific Literature and applying GAP model theory into a real case project, that led to the extraction of valuable conclusions and recommendations for the fast food giant that can further enhance McDonalds' Service Quality. I would like to complement Varvara,Kelly and Aikaterini for their outstanding level of commitment and hard work and wish them all the best for the future endeavours.” All papers to be presented at the conference will also be singularly indexed in Google Scholar. After the Conference, the Scientific Committee will select the best papers, including PhD papers, that might be published in the cooperating journals (i.e. The TQM Journal of the Emerald Group and Sinergie Italian Journal of Management). Additionally all submitted papers will be published with an ISBN number in the Conference Proceedings Book, freely available on the Conference website. Academic research represents the backbone of the philosophy and practice of CITY College. There is provision for our students to get involved in research activities and gain research experience during their studies. Through the years there are many cases of students who have excelled with their research work. Once again congratulations to our students!

The class was delivered by our student Ms Kristy Giannakou, CSU Officer for Public Relations and Karate gold medalist in Greek National Karate tournaments, who volunteered to offer a self-defense training session with more than 20 students attending. Martial arts help women learn, control and have power over their own body. Participants enjoyed the class and had the chance to familiarise and practice themselves on basic defense moves. Special thanks to Mr Nerantzis Nikolaos Mallidis, Bachelor's and Master's alumnus of the International Faculty, who volunteered for the event and assisted Ms Kristy Giannakou!
