The ‘Go Green Team’ started recruiting!
Students of the ‘Go Green Team’, who have been recycling paper across our main campus in Thessaloniki, successfully expanded their project to collection of plastic cups and other plastic-made materials, a concept they have been meaning to work on for quite some time now. Student-volunteers enthusiastically joined the project, which will consist of collecting one recycling bin per week in each of the sites at the Thessaloniki campus. Volunteers who will collect a total of 16 recycling bins by the end of the year will receive a Volunteering Certificate. Moreover, this activity is eligible for use in the Sheffield Graduate Award, under the “Volunteering” section. Knowledge, Implementation, Volunteerism! The three key words of our youth's success
Volunteerism in Thessaloniki - A video about the implementation of various volunteering projects which were initiated and pulled through by the International Faculty's students and staff. (in Greek) We often pointed out the importance of volunteerism and how rewarding is giving and helping. This video is in Greek since it refers to actions and projects taken place in Thessaloniki, where our main campus is, and also involved the people of Thessaloniki. Nevertheless, the video is just a short reference and tribute to all the wonderful projects that our students undertook with the help of their lecturers. Some of these projects which are mentioned in the video are: - the creation of the Spastics Society of Northern Greece website - the creation of Children's museum of Thessaloniki website - the creation of the Parents' Association with children suffering with neoplasmatic diseases website - the creation of bookbook.gr - the creation of a software for the Alzheimer Association of Northern Greece. Moreover, our institution has already included in the programme of studies modules which promote the social responsibility and the consciousness of giving back and making an impact to the world around us, especially to people who need our help.

Ms Laura Neagu, our BAED student embraces volunteerism!
Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to help the others by donating our time or our services for a good cause. What we get back is physical and mental rewards, professional experience, knowledge and the wonderful feeling of giving. We want to "make a difference" and we are happy to see our students following this path. Ms Laura Neagu is our student currently studying for a Bachelor in Business and is actively involved in several volunteering projects. Laura finds time to combine her busy academic schedule with volunteering activities. Lately she organized along with another volunteer, an event on behalf of the Romanian Consulate in Thessaloniki. The activity was part of a bigger project organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, called «La Grèce vous invite» (Greece invites you). Laura was also part of the promotion team of the contemporary Romanian film "Ana" which premiered last month. Laura is an excellent example of a student who is engaged in extra curriculum activities involving with volunteerism! Well done!

Big Congratulations to our students for crossing the 42km Marathon's finish line!
Nikolaos Mantsios, Haris Liampas and Stelios Karatzas completed yesterday the 9th International Marathon “Alexander the Great”. They all raced the marathon for the first time. Stelios completed the race in 4 hours 3 minutes while Nikos and Haris have run it side by side in 5 hours 8 minutes. Anybody who deals with sports and long distance races knows that the marathon is one of the most challenging sports. Stelios mentioned modestly that the race was not so difficult as everybody says about the 42km as he regularly runs for training 10-15 km. His decision to run the marathon was made recently and crossing the line made him feel proud of himself for achieving one more challenging goal. Haris says : “I dedicate this Μarathon race to Nikolaos Mantios with whom I was with at the whole duration of the race and we crossed the finish line side by side, I believe that if he was not with me in the whole distance I would not have made it. Also I devote this race to my friends and family that waited for me in the finish line to offer me help, and to all those that believed in me and sent me positive energy.” Nikos was more laconic after a brief conversation we had with him. He said “My goal was to complete this race, l might never run it again but the feeling of finishing this race was enough, plus fulfilling a goal l had since two years ago made me feel proud of myself.” Here we have to mention that Nikos injured his knee during the race therefore he continued to the finish line. We wish him a fast recovering and lots of strength to achieve his future targets. Once again congratulations to the three of them. We are all very proud of you and we wish you from our hearts to continue running both for your personal body and spiritual balance and for any other cause that satisfies you. Here are the links to previous posts about our students Haris and Nikos: Two more students will run the Marathon 1st Year Student Runs the 42km Marathon for World Peace!
