Become an Academic Representative
What is an Academic Representative An academic representative (Academic Rep) is an undergraduate or postgraduate student volunteer who represents students on a programme to their department; communicates class issues to CSU officers, participate to one student & staff committee meeting per semester, one senate meeting per semester with the Officers of the CSU, as well as to the biannual student course boards. The recruitment of academic representatives is done every year during the 4th week of the winter semester and the position is held for an entire academic year. All enrolled students are privileged to declare candidacy, unless they are on disciplinary probation. Student Volunteers are encouraged to support an educational environment, represent the student body appropriately and should show good citizenship, both on and off campus. CSU and Academic Reps act as the students’ voice and requires a responsible attitude in order to make this voice productively transmitted and received. Which premises can I have access? Both buildings in Thessaloniki (L. Sofou Building and Pr. Koromila Building) are not accessible to students. This includes the Information Learning Commons, the Library and the Labs. However, academic and administrative staff are working and you may contact them directly. 2. Can I visit the Library? Can I borrow a book? The Library as a physical space is not accessible to students. However, all online and interlibrary loan services are available and the Library staff are available to help you and answer student queries (via phone or email). If you wish to borrow a book or other material, please contact the Library staff to arrange it (library@york.citycollege.eu). I rent an apartment in Thessaloniki and I am now in my home country. What shall I do? At the moment there are no new measures in Greece regarding the situation created by the Coronavirus pandemic relating to flats rented by students. As accommodation contracts are between you and your landlord, we suggest that any matters regarding the payment of your rent should be discussed with your landlord in order to agree a plan of action with them. Please note that according to the law you can not terminate your accommodation contract unilaterally. I need to pay my tuition fees. Does the temporary move to online teaching affect my tuition fees? In light of the decision by the Greek Ministry of Education and measures taken by other countries to suspend classes and cancel travel due to the Coronavirus pandemic, in order to protect the health and well being of our students, City College has taken all reasonable steps to ensure that students have the opportunity to complete their studies on time and without delay. City College immediately moved all teaching online from 18 March 2020, taking responsibility to offer all education provision in full to all students. The classes are online and in real-time (synchronous) and with the help of technology take place in a virtual classroom that accommodates all features of a normal classroom. All teaching hours are taught, all educational processes are in place, all academic staff are contactable and the library and all student and professional services are available online. We are confident that the steps we are taking are appropriate in the circumstances (which are beyond our reasonable control), and that they will enable your continued progression. Therefore, in these circumstances and in accordance with the latest decision by the Greek Ministry of Education (April 8, 2020), tuition fees are not affected and should be paid in full. Fitness Online
We gladly announce the online fitness classes for a do-at-home full body workout! The sessions will be with no or minimum equipment, delivered in such a way for optimum results in full body exercising for both mental and physical health benefits. We will focus on strength, toning, calorie burning and bodyweight fitness. Classes will take place every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 20:00 EET (Greek time). But don't worry if you miss a class! All classes will be uploaded in the event so you can watch them anytime! CITY College announces that it moves all classes online in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Like the very best universities around the world, we have taken the decision to deliver our teaching on-line without further delay.We are committed to the well-being of all our students and staff. At such difficult times, it is vital that we remember what is important and to take the necessary actions to ensure that the CITY College community and those around us are able to live and work without causing undue risks to health. At the same time, we need to respond and adapt by giving the opportunity to our students to continue with their top-quality education. The majority of the online classes commence on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 and gradually within the next few days will expand to all programmes and locations. We are extremely fortunate to have in place the technology and expertise to be able to offer our top-quality education provision on-line to ensure that students are able to progress with their studies without delaying their progress. CityMUN delegates to participate in London International MUN Conference
CityMUN Co-Presidents, Stefani Spasenoska and Sofija Spasenoska will participate in the upcoming London International MUN Conference that will take place 20-21 February. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday in Westminster Hall and the first day of committee sessions, will take place in King's College London. Sofija will run the UN Environmental Programme committee of 90 delegates and Stefani will run the UN Developmental Programme committee of 60 delegates. Moreover, Saturday the committee sessions will continue until the evening, after which there will be a black tie ball in the Connaught Rooms. Lastly, Sunday the final committee sessions will take place while the event will be completed with a closing ceremony. Following the ceremony, there will be another event for the Chairs, Secretariat, Guest Speakers and the Board of Trustees. Exposure and participation in international events are always a great experience for our students. Wishing both Stefani and Sofija best success in the roles they have assumed in the event.

Aid by CITY College arrives in Albania
We are happy to announce that the aid collected by CITY College and our Students’ Union (CSU) after the earthquake in Albania reached its destination. The packages were delivered in Lezha municipality in the presence of the Director of Social Services of the Municipality. Additionally the financial aid collected was deposited at the bank account of Raiffeisen of the Ministry of Economics and Finance of Albania. All of us at CITY College hope that our contribution will be a small relief to the people affected.
